I have been in a depressed state for almost a month. Last Thursday finally went to a new doc and she gave me lamictal/vistaril/cymbalta (which I've been on but shes upping the dose). Today I went to work, came home and vacuumed and made dinner. I'm exhausted, feel almost numb but I guess the meds are working a bit. T says that until I get stable, I may feel numb or "out of sorts". Can't tell if Im still depressed or even up....don't have my normal "up" feelings but I do have some anxiety and racing thoughts.
BTW, has anyone suffered the lamictal rash? I'm scared of it! Every little itch I think OMG is this it??? |

I would give the meds a little more time. If you cant tell if youre depressed any more that is a good sign that something is working because if you are depressed you would know it. As for the lamictal rash. I have never heard anything about it being a rash that causes an itch. I just always imagined a rash like the measles, which dont itch, just splotchy red. I hope your meds work for you, but if they dont, I would definately request a change rather than continuing to up the dosage on something that isnt working. I work in the mental health field and went to a training where I was taught that Lamictal doesnt do squat to stabilize a person, but was excellent at keeping a person stablized once there. I can certainly vouch for the fact that it never worked to stabilize me.
Good luck with the meds. |

I was really paranoid of a Lamictol rash too when I was taking it. I did get a rash but it came and went and my dr said it was fine, sure made me worry tho.
I hope your new combo really works for you and lifts you up. |

i started lamictal yesterday. Funnily enough even though i have sever anxiety over, illness, injury and death, i havent worried about it yet. I have checking behaviour that i have to expect EVERYTHING bad else it will happen, now i'm worried i've left it too late to worry about it, so i'm definitely going to get it. But for the first time in ages there is another part of my brain saying "dont be silly, it might happen, it might not, worry about it when it comes," then the anxiety part of my brain is saying back to that part "THIS IS WHAT I MEAN, WE'RE GOING TO GET THE RASH NOW BECAUSE OF YOUR BLOODY RATIONALITY!"
i think by the sounds of it these meds could really begin to help you. ![]()

I haven't gotten any rash and I have been on Lamictal for several months. My pdoc has been reducing my lithium and replacing it with the Lamictal. I have lost about 40 excess lbs since she did this, which I definitely needed to lose! I really can't complain. I feel pretty good lately.
