I think my biggest stress reliever is painting. When I get into mania when I paint abstract mostly I let out all of my anger and rage! It feels great. It doesn't always do the trick, but sometimes..just sometimes it does! That sometimes is a lifesaver!

Painting is a great one.
I used to knit and crochet and do needlepoint and cross stitch. I always had something on the go. Since my carpal tunnel surgery and now that I have arthritis in both hands, I can't do needlework anymore.
Now I try to read (hard when I can't concentrate) or play solitaire or other games on my smartphone. I like angry birds.
Listening to music is good too.

Nice Phoenix_1. I like to crochet as well, sorry to hear it is painful to continue doing it. There is such beauty that comes out of it. I love angry birds as well! I am also addicted to Einsteins logic!

Does "taking a Lorazepam" count as a stress reliever? It really is the only thing that works for me sometimes

I love painting, but I can't do it to ease my stress. My perfectionism often discourages me from being able to create something: I worry too much about the outcome. But writing, however, fixes me up really quickly. I'm best at expressing myself through words. Also, I've been meditating for 6 1/2 years & it does WONDERS.
When I'm manic, I love to have discussions with people about just about anything (especially controversial topics) or I like to put on music really loud & sing & multitask. It's not exactly calming, but it puts me in a happy place. : P

My stress reliever is MUSIC! I have my Ipod stuck in my ears from the time I get up in the morning, until the time I go to bed.

If I am angry, I listen to angry music.

If I am stressed, I listen to calm music.

When I am sad, I listen to sad songs.

When I am happy, I listen to upbeat songs.

I ride my bike for about 20 miles and I feel like a million dollars. With the Ipod in my ears. But I've been sick now for over a week with bronchitis and can't ride, and feel like the anxiety/mania/craziness is about to take over. Riding my bike is my main mood stabilizer. Think I might try a few miles today.

But also a kind of perfectionist, and I can't just ride a short distance. It is all or nothing. I also play flute, which works well in combo with the riding. But hard with the lungs a mess. I need to get back to my pastels and drawing. I was looking at them last night, and this thread reminded me that also is a good way to unwind.

I like to chat, visit my friends, play with my cat, play a game, read.

I am trying to get to the point where I work out 4-5 days a week.

OK, first... yes kids coloring books are fun but check art stores or online for the grown up coloring books!!! they rock! I usually have to use colored pencils though because some are SO detailed.

It has taken 4 years but now I can ride my horse when having a hard time. She too has an abuse history so it took a LONG time for her to lean that I would not hurt her because of my emotions... I just want to sit on her back while she walks around or want to pet her or cry on her VERY broad shoulders. We also play ground games. Our new favorite is when we take turns mirroring the others emotion.
