I am so bad at doing that. I recently received a call from my grandmother and I did not answer it. She left a message wanting me to call her. I did not return the call, I don't even know why I didn't answer it. I just am afraid it may be bad news so I try to avoid it at all costs. The worst part about it is that I have been wanting to call her for a few months now, I just haven't and haven't returned her call either. I also do this with my friends, even when I am expecting the call. I look at it and decide to decline it.

When i was really ill, i didn't answer the phone at all, but waited till it stopped ringing then would phone 1471 to find out the number which just called me, sometimes i was even too scared to phone back even to friends, now i do answer the phone, but if it is a cold caller i just say 'no' and put the phone down, (then shake and feel uneasy for quite a while) I still have difficulties initiating a phone call, even when the person is expecting me to call!
I really do not understand why i find phones so difficult, I am quite confident talking to people face to face as long as it is about anything except me.
I hate asking for help too, often thinking i should be able to do it myself or that the person is too busy with their own things for me to bother them.

Those are the worst and most perplexing for me too. If I actually want to talk, I am even less able I am to make the call(!) I have to usually work up the nerve over several tries --sometimes weeks or months-- and still be sitting with my head b/w my knees for light-headedness, shaking and nausea.

Rae_rae21 "Just" a call to resolve a bill? Simply saying "just" tells me you are in fact very brave! Calls to any business (especially knowing I will get one of those "press one" "press two" "say yes" or "say no" -- which they ALWAYS say they can't understand no matter how clearly spoken...) Those are virtually impossible for me, between the fear and aggravation. I WILL do it though if I am ripping po'd... which is not a good state to call in either...

Ha, I know, right?! I loathe having to call people, especially strangers. I'm like you..I have to work up the nerve to actually do it. Even when I am expecting or waiting on a call back I won't answer the stupid phone!

I feel like I make my life way too damn complicated.

I'm with missbelle & anyone who accords callers no more rights than a stranger at the door. My property. My rules.

I don't like the phone at all. I don't like to call out. Sometimes I have to rehearse a call before actually dialing. Excuse me, tapping. Connection. Whatever. and now with Skype on my Mac or with the iPhone I've got Face to Face. Well aren't we just thrilled. Not only do I have to answer the bloody thing ...
Now I'm gonna have to be dressed as well.
Hmm.
My property. My rules.

I know I've posted on this thread 3 times already = guess we found a hot topic! Last night my sister called and I would usually not answer it but for some reason I did.. She's usually drunk and I try and get off the phone as fast as possible. I am so sorry I picked up that phone - never again.
