So I asked earlier if exercise helps, and it seems that it helps for many. I was also wondering if anyone has tweaked their diet to help. I take a ton of supplements and they seem to do nothing for me, so has anyone had any luck with a change in what they eat? I/ve heard that this too can make a difference...

Eating better helps you see better and faster results when you exercise which can only increase the good effects of exercise that everyone explain in the previous thread. Lay off soda and junk food. Limit your eating late at night or anytime after 8pm, if your on a "normal" sleep cycle. East 5-6 small meals a day instead of a few big meals. Drinks lots of water, LOTS of water. Staying hydrated on meds is essential
Hope this helps ![]()

I replied on the earlier exercise thread, and my experience is that healthy eating and exercise go hand in hand for me. As manicminer said, what you eat affects how beneficial your exercise is. For example, after I have a serious workout (especially weight lifting) I have a DELICIOUS protein shake to recover so my muscle tissue will heal faster.
In the past when I used to eat unhealthy foods and binge, it would make me feel depressed. Since I stopped that and began eating healthier foods, I have definitely noticed a positive change in my mood. I also make sure to eat every 4 hours or so, otherwise my body will start to feel too hungry and I could binge as a result. |

I have notice, in addition to the link between diet and exercise, that if I am not eating enough, it's hard to beat the depression. One time I was feeling very depressed and after I forced myself to eat supper, my mood improved as it digested.

It is said an Eastern monarch once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence, to be ever in view, and which should be true and appropriate in all times and situations. They presented him the words: "And this, too, shall pass away." How much it expresses! How chastening in the hour of pride! How consoling in the depths of affliction! ---"Address before the Wisconsin State Agricultural Society". Abraham Lincoln Online. Milwaukee, Wisconsin. September 30, 1859. |

I guess I feel like, after all these years with bp, I haven't found what works for me. I had just heard that certain diets are better than others. Thank you for your input.
