I noticed this in myself somehow (and others noticed too, bummer). As you may knlow I am very political person and study politics. And I am hopelessly torn between realism and idealism. Cynicism and belief in humanity. But that is methodological/ideological.

But I noticed that I swing between "we are are going to die", even wishing for a nuclear war that would eliminate "this hopeless civilization than peaked long time ago" and we should die "like a beautiful flower" (to quote Japanese WWII minister). And than I have times of equaly great optimism and belief in humanity. I am convinced myself if there was civilization that destroyed our civilization that I am gonna be there to rebuild it.

Honestly, it worries me at time. I consider myself a person who loves people and humanity, a new age-y cosmopolitan... but at times I hate it. At times I am frustrated with it.

do you notice simmilar change of your beliefs yourself?

Venus, my beliefs and everything about life and the world change on an almost daily basis.

You are definitely not alone.

I think there are changes in my view point related to my cycling and my cycling optimism. Although, I find when I get very depressed, I could care less about the world. I stop reading the news, or discussing current events and politics.

I am also a political person, studied politics, and was a student politician for the university while in college. I found that my views often stayed the same as I cycled. However, when I became full blown manic, I developed delusions of world domination and had several plans of how to accomplish this and shared it with whomever would listen.

That's a good way to put it, my beliefs hold firm, but my optimism wavers.

oh, I don't switch between liberalism or conservatism either. But there are times I am much more realistic... others I go uberidealist.

trying to balance that all.

Mine changes depending on the cycle. I usually cycle 2-3 times a year (or more, give or take)

However, my political beliefs never change.

It's my spiritual beliefs that change. When I am leading up to a hypomanic/manic phase I feel like God is really here and he brought his son down to save the human race. When I'm feeling depressed I question God's existence. It becomes more of a fairy tale. The funny thing is, I have never 'submitted' nor plan to 'submit' my life to God since it only seems real part of the year.

I don't know if that makes me cynical or not.

As of right now, I'm feeling more spiritual and have started to attend church again. I wonder how long this will last.

my views change for me with my cycles. Sometimes I love the world and am in awe of what we can do, other times I am disgusted that I belong to the human race, and can't believe we all let it come to this. I almost never read papers tho or watch the new or keep up with any current events as I find it all rather depressing and dismal. For sure if I watched this stuff all the time I would be full of disgust all the time. I don't keep up with pop culture either also disgusting in some ways.
