I was just wondering what time in the evening those of you who are on Seroquel take it? I just started it again at a much higher dose and it's kicking my butt in the morning. I swear I may as well been drunk this morning! I took it at 8pm and in bed by 10pm.. HELP!

Hi there,

I take my Seroquel XR in the evening, depending on when I want to fall asleep. For me, it takes 2-3 hours to kick in, so if I want to be in bed by 10, for example, I'll take it at 7pm. If I want to stay up later, I'll take it later at night.

When I started this medication, it kicked my butt horribly...I'd sleep about 14-16 hour days. Now I'm fine with 9-10 hours, which is perfect for me. Used to be on a higher dose (600mg), but found it to be too much, now I'm only on 350mg. (Had to taper down gradually, of course!)

I know it's hard, but try to be patient. It is a medication that can tackle quite a few issues at once, so it might be helpful for killing 2 (or more) birds with one stone. And if you still find it to be too much after a long time (like I did), you could always request to taper off it gradually until you find an appropriate dosage that works. Best of luck to you!
Thanks for this!

My Pdoc told me to take it 12 hours before I wanted to get up. So I usually take it by 6pm. It kicks in around 9-10pm

What time do yo take your SeroquelXR?

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

I have been wanting to ask this question for ages as I am dead in the mornings and its ruining my day to day routines. I take it at 10-11pm and it doesn't kick in until 2-4am I am dead the next morning and it takes me 2-4 hours to actually get out of bed. Its ruining my life I feel. I think I am gonna start to take it earlier now maybe even 8pm. See how it goes
Thanks for this!

I have to agree...I take mine at 5pm and it kicks in around 7 or 8. Then I am up at 5am bright eyed and bushy tailed ready to take on the day. lol
