Have any of you read this book? .... I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a guide to spiritual enlightenment....

I'm re-reading it, because I think I've forgotten many of it's basic principles. Plus, when manic (which I was for 6 weeks) it's very hard to read anything, let alone understand "mindfulness" and being in the "now"... the "present moment".

If you have not read this book, it is not on bipolar, but on how one can be happy not tomorrow, not in memory of the past, but NOW. You can get it at the library, if you want to check it out.

He also wrote "New Earth", however that book is hard to read, because the concepts (that are brilliant) are so mind blowing it may take you months to read.....I suggest reading "The Power of Now" first.

I read both and def agree with you that "The Power of Now" is more understandable concept-wise. I couldn't read anything when I was manic and it was so disturbing because I usually read 2 to 3 books a week. I think Tolle has these on audio which might be a good idea if you can't process the written word.

Yes, he does have them on audio, my sister listens to them in her car. I'm glad you posted, I wasn't sure if anyone would've read them or not. Also, you can watch clips of him on youtube speaking on the concepts that are in the books.

Hi All!
My therapist mentioned this to me, and I read an excerpt that she said sounded like what I was describing about depression. He calls it the "Pain Body". I read that and it really made sense. I considered reading The Power of Now, and hearing your input and recommendations, I think I will definately get a copy. I'm reading Louise Hay right now...and she makes a lot of sense in the healing process. Eckhart Tolle seems to have a similiar philosophy! Thanks everyone!

A friend practically made me buy this book...It's been on my shelf for two months now but I really can't get through it! But I promised I would so I guess I have to try once again...

Is it so much worth it regardless of personal views on spirituality and all its extensions..?

Perhaps just read 4-5 pages per day. I don't recommend speed reading through it anyways, unless of course you feel up to it.

I picked it up a little while ago, and have been enjoying reading it when I can. It is so hard to stay present and not dwell in the past or focus obsessively on the future.

Exactly....that's why I need the book like it's the bible! I think it's harder for anyone with a mood disorder to apply the concepts , however we NEED it more then others also.
