I have been on 50mg daily and will be increasing to 75mg daily tomorrow. Did anyone feel a difference at 75mg? I'm so ready to feel normal!!! I know most people are theraputic around 150-200mg daily but I didn't know if with each increase you felt atleast a little better??

I noticed a change at every other increase. At 50 then 100. Am now at 125 & haven't noticed much difference. Working up to 150 & maybe 200 if need be.

Have been up as high as 400 but had a rash scare that turned out to be something else. So am working up again. Being off it completely for a month then working back up has been tough cause this drug really helps me.

Hopefully you'll feel better soon, be patient & give it a chance.
Take care.
Thanks for this!

I've been on lamictal for two months now and thought that I could feel a difference. Shockingly my pdoc told me last week that lamictal was a 'slow poke' drug and had not yet begin to affect me. The vast improvements I've felt since starting lamictal was the work of my seroquel, not lamictal according to him. So I'm pretty confused right now about how long it takes to be therapeutic.

I didn't feel any different on lamictal until I hit the therapeutic dose and noticed, looking back, that I was slowly getting more stable as the dosage was increased.

I had that same experience with Lamictal. Once you work up to the 100 or 200 mg dosage you will (hopefully) tell the difference. Lamictal is one of those drugs that needs to be amped up slowly to see how you react to it. One thing that is awful is if you have to suddenly stop taking them. I had to because of a rash that turned out to be a reaction from a bug bite, but the doc had to take me off of it cuz it could have been a serious side effect. When I was off of it I felt like I was naked. It took a good 4 months to get back to the level I was at before, and thank goodness becuz those were the worst months ever. Also I find that the generic does not have the same affect as the original brand. I can't take the generic and I notice others have a hard time with it too.

I just got up to 200 mgs. after several weeks, and boy was I waiting for it to kick in. Looking back, ( I also keep a "mood chart"), I started coming around at 75 mgs. and felt significantly better at 100 mgs. I love that it doesn't make me feel dopey or spacey or tired---just much better than the pit of depression I was in. I'm feeling more balanced and stable than I can remember. Thank God for Lamictal!

Lamictal may not be working for you however the doc is going to raise it if u have felt better while on lamictal so they will higher the dose if your symptoms kick in. Your doc should have told u this but if he didn't ... lamictal could be life threatening, keep a close eye on your body, if a rash appears, stop taking it and see your doc... it can happen anytime on any dose.

Lamictal is great. I had been on and off meds for years before I was prescribed it and I now feel more "normal" than I ever had since before the onset of the mental illness.
As for your question, sometimes my dosage has had to be increased because my body gets "used" to the medicine.
