First episode 10 yrs ago. 1 1/2 yrs to suicide attempt. 9 years of 'surviving' up/down/meds/no meds - now 2nd major episode. Oct 05 sleep disturbances, Jan back on meds, try several, breakdown by summer, now its january - not much better. Trouble working, trouble thinking - all the usuals. I read of episodes that last a month - those are a piece of cake - whats up with this year long -prolonged periods?

I've dealt with long, long depression and it's really hard. it wears on you, but don't underestimate how wearing rapid cycling can be. Still I wish you the strength to weather the storm of your moods.

I was manic for 4 months starting November 2004 only to be followed up by a 3.5 month depression February 2005. Bipolar is a quirky demon at best. Those were the scariest 7.5 months of my life, but I steeled myself to the notion that I won't let this control me. I'm gonna win, every time, and that demon is just gonna have to keep rubbing his backside from me kicking it so much.

I've had 3 major depressions in the last 15 years, lasting anywhere from a month to several months. This current one has been for a solid 4 1/2 months necessitating short term disability from work. Doesn't seem any rhyme or reason...people will tire of me saying this...but everyone and their chemical compositions are so very different.

We're all here to root for you as you make the journey!! episodes that last for months on end?
