does anyone suffer from these?
i hear and see things... random things just in the time i get into bed into going to sleep. i wondered if this phenomenon is part of the bi-polar or just a freak thing that is occurring with me. i tend to get it more in hypomanic state - not so much during normal periods/depressed state |

It's a normal part of the falling asleep pattern. Many people (normals, bipolars, etc) may not remember unless they are studying their dreams so self-programmed to. But we fall asleep in stages, asleep briefly then awake several times before falling into the early steady sleep. Fragment of mental audio/visual may drift thru--sometimes even startling us awake.
If you're interested in following this up, post it in the sleep/dreams forum. They know tons!

I get hypnopompic hallucinations. They used to really freak me out till I learned that they are ok, and that "normal" people can have them too. So, no worries, it's not a BP thing, which I hope sets your mind at ease.
I get what you're saying... they're so very real that it's hard not to think you've gone around the bend (so to speak). I remember one particular time when I was having them a lot. My ex definitely thought I'd lost it when he awoke to see me standing on the bed with my hands on the ceiling. I was hallucinating that it wasn't there and was open to the sky. I SAW it, you know?! And not just a glimpse. I think the most disconcerting thing (is this your experience too?) is that you see it awake. You know you're awake, thinking about it as you see it, reaching out or even walking and there it is, right in front of you. Except it isn't. ![]() |

I hear the tv on in the next room even tho it is not, I hear someone whispering my name in my ear-this scares the crap out of me, I hear noises in the house, I smell weird nasty stuff, I see shadows in the hall if I sleep with my door open. I have to have a totally dark room to sleep in so I don't see shadows. Hallucination or sleep state? Not sure.
