The past few days I have been noticing that I am losing interest in just about everything. Taking a bath, going to therapy (canceled appt. due to lack of energy and interest), reading, vacuuming, I even let my new puppy out off leash this morning for lack of energy and it was only by a miracle he came home.
The only thing I do is make sure I do the basics- eat my 3 meals a day, take the dogs out, sleep, play Fate, answers certain calls, participate here and feel like *****. Are my suspicions correct? I do not want to call my doc as I don't want to start the whole med guinie pig thing again. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hi RapidFlyer,
I can't answer this question with certainty, because we are all different. But it does sound like you are indeed losing interest in many things, which is often a telltale sign of depression. Maybe keeping track of how you are feeling for the next few days would be helpful - this way you can see whether it gets better, stays the same, or gets worse. If this concerns you though, I'd recommend seeing a psychiatrist. If you're not on meds already, they may be a good idea. Bipolar Disorder is hard to control without medication. If you are already on meds, it may be just a matter of increasing a dosage, or adding another med to the cocktail. You'll never know though, if you don't try! Also, if you are currently seeing a therapist, making an appointment with them might be a good idea too. And of course, please post whenever you need someone to listen. That's what the site is for, after all! ![]() |

I know you hate the medical guinea pig/medication things, as you said, but if you are heading into a black hole, you'd better call your doc anyway. Some of the meds from your recent manic episode may need changing, and if you are cycling down again, some of the mood stabilizers, if you take any, may need to be raised.
Despite your mood, don't cancel your T appts. He/she is the one that's there to help you get thru the mood swings until the medication has time to kick in. Also, on your list of things you are doing each day, you failed to mention taking all your meds. You need to be doing that, too. Meanwhile, hang in there, don't do anything stupid, and call a friend if you reach a crisis point and can't reach your T. Or even just to talk. ![]() ~Buggs |
