I just realized I had Wellbutrin SR in my signature--I'm on plain Wellbutrin now. I need to change that.

Anyway--when adjustments are made to your meds how long do you give them to work? I was on 150 mg. Wellbutrin SR and 300 mg. Lamictal. Friday she changed me to 100 mg. Wellbutrin, 1.0 mg. Ativan (and 0.5 as needed) and 300 mg. Lamictal. How long do I need to give the change to work before calling her and basically saying, "Help!" The change was made Friday and I feel worst now than I did before she altered my meds.

Unfortunately this is something that varies by meds. Some take longer to get in/out of your system than others.

I would give it 2-3 weeks (Some medications take less/more time) UNLESS you are having bad side effects/feel like you'll harm yourself.

Patience is the hardest part of taking medication.

Also remember medicine doesn't cure anything. You have to change parts of your life (like work out, eating healthy etc.,) in order to get the full benefits of the medication.

I've been on Wellbutrin for about 6 months or so. My psychiatrist and therapist said after about 2.5 to 3 months that there was a change in my mood. I don't see it, but they seem to. But then again, I can't tell when I'm manic or depressed either. So yeah, it took a while longer than what is typical.

Wellbutrin worked really quickly for me - like in a few days - but then I levelled out. Lamictin takes longer due to the titration process. And for SSRI's they say to wait about 6 weeks.
As soon as something happens you aren't happy with, phone your pdoc/T
