I know nobody responds.. But I need advice...My therapist told me she wants me to go to the psych hospital. But I want to wait til after the 1st... Is that selfish? Will I go manic before then? Should I suck it up and go now?

I suppose my first question would be...why do you want to wait until after the 1st? And then my second question would be, do you think your therapist is right, and that you should go to the psych hospital?

In general, the professional does know what's best. If you think the therapist's opinion is a valid one, I would consider being admitted to the hospital. The sooner the better.

Why does your therapist feel you need a inpatient hospital stay?

Sorry your having a rough time .. Is there a chance you can talk / meet with her again and really discuss why she feels you need to be in the hospital .. maybe shes seeing behaviors that right now your not able to see .. ( that has happened to me before)

I have been inpatient 3 times this year and each time I needed it..

I dont think Therapists reccomend hospital stays unless they really feel its necessary.

Goood luck and keep posting on here

IF you think you have a good T AND you're just making excuses THEN sure, you should go now. It's the responsible thing an adult does.

I don't guess many of us get a kick out of going, but Ts & pdocs don't recommend it as a nice break--it's because we're sick! Do we get a cold when it's convenient?

Sorry. I would fight to stay with my baby too, except in a case like this. This I'd hate, but I'd do. Ugh.

Thanks for this!

You guys are all right. I just dont want to go. I just want to be tough enough to rid of this. Plus I dont want to be there for new years. Ugh im sick of excuses. Im sick of being sick. I just dont want to deal with any of it. I hate going. I hate groups. I hate lectures its so boring. Whereas I could be home, not "happy", just content, at least more than those places. I need to take care of my family, and if I go im not doing that. I feel selfish in doing so...

I know I should go, im just finding it hard to go.

We all want to be strong, but sometimes we can't tough it out as you say, no matter how hard we try. And if we don't get the help that is offered we go deeper into that pit, and it's harder to climb out. I know inpatient can be lame with the groups, and we colored too(I'm 50 and we colored) but it did help.
Sending good thoughts to you today. The strong people are the ones willing to seek help, the weak give up so they don't have to fight, you are stronger than you think.

Taking care of the mother of your child is not selfish. Besides you will probably feel a whole lot better when you get home from the hospital, plus a happy mom is a happy home.
