What would you put in your "Happy Box" for when you are down and need a lift.... what makes you happy?

I will also post this in the Depression forum too

Mines would be

1. Mary Poppins keyring- Saw it in London 2005
2. A photo of my Granda
3. A photo of my Gran and her family
4. A "goodbye" card made by the kids I taught when I was teaching
5. Concert tickets- PINK/Travis/The Proclaimers/Les Miserable

Thanks for this!

Good idea Miss.Laura! I'll really have to think about this one. What are the dimensions of this box. So hard to decide.

Definatly photos of my kids, a Christmas tree figurine, because when I see Christmas trees lite up I feel a sence of love and peace wash over me. Christmas to me is a time when I feel like the whole world stops turning, for us to all come together as one. I have kept small keepsakes of all the special places my bf and I have been, I would want those in my happy box. And a picture of our chakras, and a lotus, just to remind me of direction.
Thanks for this!

Pretty much the whole idea of this box is that its a physical thing you can open up and look through in order to feel a bit better if you are feeling down. People used a shoe box, a gift box. Whatever you can find in your house that you can use. Even a biscuit tin

Then you input things that make you smile/happy. Photo's, perfume, cd's, dvd's etc etc!! Anything you like as it's your box.

Some people in the group had photo's of family members, jewllery, cd's, concert membrobellia (sp) etc etc!!
Thanks for this!

Hmm I am off to look for a box, and even decorate it, it will probably come in handy soon. Again, thanks.

Yoda's Happy Box will contain:
  • a lock of Dusty's tail that I took with me when I was scared to have my MRI
  • a small model horse foal that is about one inch long that someone customized to be rolling on his back and kicking his legs with glee
  • a preemie diaper (clean one) that I kept to remind me how small my son was when he was born (5#)
  • photos of family and pets - some here and some gone - all loved
  • a music CD with a mix of favorite songs
  • a four leaf clover
  • a thank you card that my pdoc gave me that said I was kind

My sons laughter, hugs, kisses and declarations that I'm a Super Hero make me happiest. I wish I could bottle them.

I love this idea. Thank you, Miss Laura for this wonderful idea.

My Happy box would have:

Pictures of all 5 of my dogs:
Beethoven my soul mate gone to Doggie heaven
Easter my little angel who taught me about growth also in doggie heaven
Sabre who taught me dare anything also in doggie heaven
Stollen who is teaching me about touch and love
Moxie who is teaching me about the invincible will to live
My favorite Book that started my love of reading
Sage for purification
A candle for centering
my favorite smallest teddy bear
My Step Dad's Ashes
My mom's Picture
My Dad's Picture
My Niece's Pictures
My Grandma and Grandpa's Pictures

Each of these would bring me happiness and joy on the worst of days.
Thanks for this uplifting chance to think of these things. I believe I just may make this a real box now.

Hmmmm... Not sure what I would put in a box that I would save away like that. Most of the things that make me happy are things that I keep close all of the time, like the beautiful Tiffany key from my hubby. Photos of "happy" places are my computer screensaver, music that makes me feel good is also on my computer.

Mementos of family members that are no longer with me just make me cry - not exactly a happy thing - and I was so fat in my wedding photos that they make me cringe. I just don't keep much out of pure sentimentality.

All I can think of is a bar of 90% cocoa chocolate and maybe my well-worn copy of Gone With The Wind (which is pure escapism rather than "happy" but...) And I can't very well stick my hubby in a box!

Miss Laura,I absolutely love this! I have a small box that I created in a women's retreat last year, and I always smile at the contents from that particular weekend. Duh, I never even thought to create a Happy Box that is more general for happiness.
I will get back to this thread after I create my Happy Box!
