I've been taken all my meds, and Wednesday night I was sooo tired. My body was tired, and every time I was about to fall asleep electric shocks would go through my body, temp paralyze me, my mouth couldn't even move for like a minute, and they it would go away. But this happened every 15 min 20 min 30 min It was really scary. My husband took me to the ER they tested me and found nothing wrong. I had them a little bit the next day, but my body ached so much, that I couldn't relax, and no amount of motrin would take it away. This morning I feel fine, but my knees still ache pretty bad, but I can deal with it. No electric shocks today. But I was so scared. I, supposed to go see an neurologist, and see what is up. In hind sight I think I was just soo stressed out that my body shut down. It was like having the flu with no other symptoms...plus spontaneous elcetric shocks. Maybe my geodon didn't work that night too. Has anyone else had this?

Hi Forgive
How long have you been on the Xanax? Do you take it every day? There is something called tolerance withdrawal or interdose withdrawal that can happen with shorter acting benzos, and those sound a lot like the withdrawals I have had from Xanax in the past. Just a thought.

![]() If by chance you are coming off of Cymbalta, definitely look to that as the source of brain zaps. I've read about that effect from discontinuing it many times. And that coming off it is a particularly long process. (I'm extrapolating a bit from having read people talking about brain zaps that for some they might also zap on a larger scale.) I've not experienced electric shocks/brain zaps. I'd have have to imagine that your body aching so much today is from so much tensing yesterday, as it would in any such situation. Sorry to be no help as to a potential cause of the tensing that precipitated it though(!) (Sorry to be confused over whether it's going off or going on the meds. I wasn't sure in reading where you said, "I've been taken all my meds..." if you meant that you've been taken (off ) all or if you've been taking all your meds.) p.s. Going on to Lamictal I did have big aches (I described it as having felt like I was hit by a truck), but fortunately that effect only lasted a day or two. Don't know if that info helps. |

I've had brain zaps too. Still do. I have had them for years. Ever since I was weaned off of Celexa. But I have never had a whole body zap.
I would go to the neurologist and let them check it out. Better to be sure of what it is or isn't.

This is what I figured. I ate with my geodon...but I don't think I ate enough...so I was up all night, and getting zapped! It took two days to recover from one messed up dose. I'm not coming off, or going on any of them...just one messed up night. Scares me to know how dependent I am on my meds, and to know going off of them would be literally painful.. and..Scary! That's even more frightening!
