Is there any side effects on your body if you suddenly stop taking lithium? My chest hurts and i'm kind of scared

I honestly don't think you will have anything at 600 mg because it's not even at therapeutic levels. I have cold turkey 900 mg before and experienced an episode about 2 weeks after I stopped, which went away when I started the dose again.

Chest hurting is usually anxiety.

I think you should have talked to your doctor about quitting the lithium so you could try something else instead of quitting it. Do you do/take anything for anxiety?

The only other thing I take is seroquel. I talked to my doctor about quitting the lithium, he said it was fine. I have an appointment next week to start on something else. I usually can control the anxiety but it's not working. I keep getting dizzy, my ears are hot and red and I can feel my pulse everywhere. Guess I need to talk to him about the anxiety huh? Kinda getting out of hand. Thanks

Is there any way you could temporarily see a therapist? Perhaps they could give you ways to cope with the anxiety in a way that doesn't force you to take more medication.

Maybe there is something about taking medication that gives you anxiety? Does it trigger anything?

I got a referral for a psychologist Friday, they are calling Monday to set up an appointment. I think taking meds does freak me out. The first time I took the Seroquel it made my lips go numb and made me feel like I was on cloud 9. I didn't take the Seroquel last night because of how bad I felt and today I can breath, my sinuses are actually cleared. I think the trigger is my heart, anything that messes with it makes me anxious. It skips a beat and feels weird sometimes so when a med speeds it up or slows it down I get really antsy. I'm going to wait till the psychologist tells me what to do. I don't trust my family doctor for the simple fact that he put me on them meds and not once had me take a blood test, or wanted a follow up appointment. And yes I requested a different doctor. I want someone that knows more about what is going on with me before throwing pills down my throat I am in the nursing field so I know when something is wrong, I know my body and it was telling me that yes I was having anxiety issues but also there was something else. I think my blood pressure was high, hence, the strong pulse, the flaming red and hot ears, feeling my heart beat all through out my body. I stopped the meds and I'm not feeling those symptoms, and in return my anxiety issues are lower. I'll trust in what the Therapist digs up, and before I am put on any kind of pill I want my blood tested and I want to be monitored better. Hopefully that will keep the anxiety in check
