Hi everyone,

I just experienced the weirdest thing. Starting Monday, I woke up very depressed, I felt like the world was ending and I just wanted to cry. This got lighter until Wednesday when my paranoia started acting up and I though all my coworkers were whispering mean things about me.

Come Thursday I had excess energy and was no longer depressed. I shared personal information with people I now regret sharing with, in fact, I regretted sharing it with them the moment I said it but I just couldn't stop myself. This continued through Friday and it's now 5am Saturday morning and I just can't sleep. I woke up after only 5 hours of sleep, much less than I normally have.

These swings are typical for me, but I've never had them happen so quickly before or one after another like that. I always get a least a couple days respite after depression, and depression normally lasts at least a week, generally more. I've been on Abilify for two and a half months now, however in the first month I accidentally skipped 10 pills b/c I couldn't remember to take them right before bed. I moved to taking them earlier, but now I have to content with how drowsy they make me.

Does anyone here have any insight about what could be causing such a rapid shift in me like this? It's very exhausting and not something I want to continue experiencing.

Season change! It happens to me with the weather changing and that damn time shift, more light and longer days. Happens in the fall but, instead of being mostly happy I'm going up and down 'til I'm in my winter hibernation mode ie depressed. Also, if you're skipping meds you might get a bit silly or down.

Oh and are you certain your coworkers were not whispering about you? Gossip is rampant in the workplace. Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you.

Lately I like cycling so, I don't know how or why to stop it. I suppose the meds are to do that but, meds just seem to lessen the intensity, perhaps I could try others but, like I said I enjoy it often enough then again, looking at my mood chart I'm going between a little sad and euphoric as hell right now.
Thanks for this!

It appears to me that you're having mixed episodes rapid cycles of ups and downs. I wouldn't rule out the possibility that your medication might have something to do with it. I'm not a professional but I have experienced times when my medication had to be adjusted because they had caused rapid mood swings.

Personally I find the mixed episodes the hardest to cope with.

Absolutely positive. We work in a call center where we need to whisper everything or it confuses the callers. My coworkers all think I'm a sweetheart, and I could always walk over there and find out, but really, there's only so many times I can do that and find out they're just asking what's for lunch.

Seasonal or medication could certainly be it. I've never experienced seasonal issues, but that doesn't mean I'm not more sensitive to it now.
