Hi everyone, I'm 46, and my face has broken out so bad its just horrible! I quit my meds about 3 weeks ago, and , I can't help but think that's why? Anyone else ever go through this? I feel awful, my heart is non stop racing, my brain is going to explode, and, I can't sleep. I quit taking my meds because the last med change made me suicidal within 2 weeks, can't take this anymore! I often wonder how many people make it through this? So tired..

Hey there Kj.....first of all......slow down and take a breath...you're making me nervous
Im not sure about breaking out when you come off the meds, but I can tell you that my skin has went back into time to my teen years while being on my meds. I too am on Topamax....I take 50mg a day, and 30mg a day of Celexa...one of those two devils is making my back break out, and my face is either dry, or its oily......I feel like its prom night again lol.....The only advice I can give it either get that Proactiv stuff they have on TV (if you go to the local mall, you can buy it without having that automatic monthly reorder) or I went to Sally's Beauty and got this thing that scrubs my face (sandpaper lol) and then I put on this lotion thats a skin brightener...Ive noticed some improvement....Best of luck to you though!

I'm not sure about breaking out coming off meds either. Would not be surprised tho. I have constantly been breaking out since I've been on lithium, never had a problem with my skin before. It sucks!!! I was going to try proactive, till I read so many reviews about it burning the skin for dry skinned people like myself, but I've also seen friends use it who had oily skin and it worked. I've been using tea tree oil and mixing it with water for a cleanser and then putting it straight on to the pimples, well I get cystic acne. It's very very hard to treat it has been helping tho and clears up much faster.

You stopped all your meds? What were you taking?

Thank-you for your replies!! It's been 2 weeks, off meds. I am having a good day today!!!!! My face is still broke out, but, a little better. I'm one of those people that the doctor likes to change my meds alot, well they just don't work! Lithium was good to me for a while, then Topamax was good for a week, Abilify, Celexa, Ativan, Valium, there is more, but, I can't remember?? So, I quit my Dr., thinking about looking for a new one. Every time I visit this sight, I get wonderful replies, and, people that care. Sometimes, I try to stay away, because, I'm afraid it keeps me trapped. It's a hard world out here sometimes. Thanks so much, for caring. My brain is flying today, LOL!
