living alone OR do you prefer it?

I find it challenging, because I'm not living alone by choice. I miss having my wife and kids around, and I even miss my dog. I'm living in a little rathole apartment in a city, and I hate cities. I'm a country boy - I own 17 acres on a dirt road up in the hills with some of the best deer hunting in Ohio.
I'm alone now because I just came off a roughly 4 month mania when I decided that leaving my wife and kids for an old lover would be a good idea and would make me happy for the rest of my life. She left me for reasons of her own, and now I'm stuck here by myself because my wife and kids don't want me back, at least not yet. We're working toward reconciliation, but it is a long slow process. There are a few advantages - the place stays clean, it's quiet, if I put something down it's still there when I come back for it - but on the whole I'd rather be back at my real home with my family.

Both. I choose to live alone, but I would like to find someone too, i.e. a boyfriend.
I can get lonely sometimes, so I have to make a point of seeing others, something which I am not always good at doing.

I hate living alone. It just feels so boring and depressing to me. When I'm alone I spend hours on my computer doing nothing, and I feel as if I'm wasting my life away.

I prefer living alone most of the time but not all the time. I enjoy my own space and independence. I also live with my three kids, so I'm not really alone. They are all entering teen years tho, so actually haha I'm alone a lot. No one wants to hang out with mom anymore. I've been with my bf for 5 and half years. We basically act married, we swap staying at his house, or my house, or staying at separate houses, depending on schedules. It works really good for me because I feel like I have control over my own income, house, surroundings, I have time to myself but not too much.

Hang in there. I had a similar issue about 4 years ago and thought a woman I met at work was the answer to all my problems. I was manic, and then incredibly depressed when I had to go home to a life I didn't feel I wanted anymore. Eventually I needed to be alone for a little bit. Once I got regulated with proper meds and made sense of everything, I was able to see what I had done to myself and others. It took time, but it worked out and I'm much better off now, having reconciled with my wife. You can get there too, just think about what is really important, and remember that the grass is not always greener...I learned that quickly - I really did have a decent life, I just didn't know it at the time. Take care.

I cant do it. I found myself after a manic episode living away from my husband and kids and all alone. I could not stand it. I need someone to be around almost all the time. Alone time is vert bad for me. I wind up thinking or doing really dumb things too.

Either or, they both have their benifits. I do love my alone time a lot I could entertain myself, but I also love the affection from a loving companion. Me and my wife are going through issues right now due to my disorder. I don't know if my marraige will be saved or not. This situation really doesn't make my issue any better. Sometimes I feel she doesn't understand me.

I like living alone. I have been married twice and my first thought about marriage again is that men are a lot of work. LOL I do have a dog for companionship and that's all I need.

I live alone and enjoy it very much. It was very scary at first as i had never done it before, but my roommate was buying a house and moving in with her boyfriend so I had no choice. I had never been alone. I had gone from home, to roommates, to husband and kids, to boyfriend for twelve years, and then me and my kids, to my roommate, and then it was just me on my own. I didnt think I could do it. But its great. Its been a year and a half. I make all the decisions. I can leave dishes unwashed, clothes about, not clean if i want. I can watch whatever i want on TV, go to bed whenever I want, make as much noise as I want, eat whatever, whenever I want. There is no one to judge me for anything I do. I love this freedom. I havent been in a relationship for over 9 years and every now and then I think about maybe I am ready, but then I think how it would mean giving up this freedom and I really dont want to lose this. I dont want to have to come home and cook for someone, clean for someone. Watch another persons tv shows. I like my solitary life very much.

No offense but I am a man and I feel that woman are a lot of work. I think its jst finding that mate you are compatible with and excepting them for who they are no mater what. I have never had that and crave for it. I have always excepted who I was with for who they were and cherished them for it, but never got that in return. I yearn for that kind of companionship. |

I like living alone..However, in light of my recent bipolar diagnosis...Im a bit concerned and wondering who is going notice when Im "off"? Am I going to be able to tell? Only one of my friends knows and none of my family (they all live out of state)?

I would like to find that too. My sister is the only one that seems to understand, even though I have never told her my issue. She just seems to know which I enjoy. I like people to leave me alone until i find my way, but give me advice along as its in small dosies ( sorry if thats misspelled)

I love living alone, I am never bored and never lonely. I have a bf of 8 years but we like living separately.
Sometimes I worry about the same thing as other posters have said - I am rubbish at spotting my mood changes and usually need someone else to point it out. And I worry about accidents or illness or something. But mostly I love living alone.
