I seem to have one every 4 weeks and it lasts about 2 weeks. Then I'm depressed as hell again after that. Is it normal for them to be on a schedule like that?

I have one long one (for me) for 3 weeks end of april beginning of june every year. Then, like you, I have one about every 6 weeks for a week or two. I also get noticeably depressed when the leaves start changing and will stay like that until after Christmas.

Same diagnoses too...will be interested to see if other cylothmics are similar.

I just realized today that they come every 4 weeks. Maybe I can use that to my advantage. I don't mind my hypomania, I LOVE it but I Hate the depression that comes after the mania stops.

Out of curiosity, what do you take for yours?

I was on Wellbutrin, lexapro and Abilify. The Abilify really leveled me out but it made me so so sleepy. My doc took away the Abilify and added Deplin. Its just a prescription vitamin. Well see if it actually works.

My episodes were like clock work beforenmeds. I survived by being self employed. I could plan my schedule so I had down time for my depressions. I worked extra long hours during the hypomania and took time off during my mania that occurred once a year. Now that I'm on mood stabilizers the mania and hypomania come out of no where. The hypomania occurs less often. The depression remains the same.

Might it have anything to do with your menstrual cycle?

I had the worst PMS symptoms ever when I was in my 20s and 30s, of course now I realize that was probably related to my then-undiagnosed BP, because my moods cycled along with my periods. I was hell on wheels for the week or 10 days prior to Shark Week for years.....my poor family could do nothing but stay out of my way when I was like that. (I've since apologized---NOBODY deserves to be driven out of their own house when Mamma ain't happy.)

Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there. Your mileage may vary.

I'm not official yet butive been tracking my moods for a while and it seems like every two-3 weeks it happens that I feel my mood lighten over the course of 2-3 days so I know that the days following will be high days, if that makes sense. I seem to climb to the high and then just wake up one morning in the crapper. I'm sure that most people's cycles are very predictable once you pay attention. of couse, not all, because we are each very different!

Ive thought about that but I have had a hysterectomy so I don't really have a cycle. Its make it harder to track. I have thought about seeing my Ob/gyn but even if its hormones related can he really do anything to help me?

If you still have ovaries, you still 'cycle' to some extent, even though you're not having periods. Otherwise, I don't know what the answer is......I've still got all my original equipment but went through menopause about 6 or 7 years ago, and there are still times of the month when I'm a little moodier and a little clumsier than I usually am. I suppose hormones could help if you can tolerate them; I never could, so I went through natural menopause on Paxil and Ativan. LOL
