Hi ya everyone..

I been to see my CPN today, she wants to me to see the psychiatrist cos she thinks that i am suffering from Bipolar.. I want to ask a question..

1. Can i swing from being high, to being low back to be high again in weeks? Its just i felt high for 8 days then i was low for 11 days and then i went back to being high again, is that bipolar?

What are the other symptons? What do other people on this site go through with their bipolar..

How do you cope with your bipolar?

Yes you can swing like that within weeks and that seems to me to be bipolar.
have you stayed up or down for longer than weeks?

Personally I am Bipolar 1 w/ psychotic ideations and my cycles can last from weeks to years. I go into manic episodes and rant about everything from God to Chocolate. Medications are my only hope and these include a script from a doctor for medical cannabis. That's how I cope everyday, otherwise I would be locked up somewhere bad, now I am just locked up at home. lol

Hello, Twistergirl, and welcome.

You've asked some solid questions and they should be used by you to begin your
research on the illness called Bipolar Disorder.

It's very difficult to give an opinion from what you have said, and, of course, we aren't doctors, so we can't diagnose. What you have described could be one of a number of different conditions, not at all necessarily bipolar illness.

When bipolar illness has been diagnosed, it is possible in several of the types of the illness to have mood swings that last for days in a high state and then drop suddenly into a depressed condition. In Bipolar Ultradian illness, one can go from a high in the morning to a low by mid-morning and then back again to the high very quickly.

It's very important for you to see the psychiatrist and learn all you can about the illness; and if it turns out that you do have it, you can be stabilized on one of the
medications that will restore the chemistry that is out of balance in the brain.

The illness is too complicated to go into a long explanation of what people experience here in bipolar illness. I can tell you that it varies widely. Go online and ask the for symptoms of bipolar illness.com There you will find some of the answers you seek. As for what some of the members of the forum go through with their illness, read some of the posts here, Twistergirl, and you'll get an idea of how folks manage when they are high, low, or stable.

Everyone copes differently and similarly at the same time. Some people take several medications; others may take only one. Some are extremely sensitive; some are not.

It's a very individual thing. You will learn more from reading the posts on the forum than you will ever learn from my talking about it to you.

I cope with my illness by taking a small amount of a medication and by using certain
diet plans that provide better nutrition than the average American diet offers. And
I take high-quality vitamins, as well.

People in bipolar illness are not ill all the time, Twistergirl. They may have strong
ups and downs and then be perfectly content for some time. There are episodes of
that occur; between them, people are stable.

You could be off to an interesting research project for school if you want to turn it
into something like that. There's a lot of information available if you just search for it on the internet. Don't believe everything you read, however; the internet is not noted for being the most reliable of all sources for data, generally.

Take care.

Welcome. You will find this is a nice place to be.

No matter what type of bipolar you are diagnosed with, you will be on a learning curve. You will likely see a psych dr. and a therapist. Meds may be given and then tweaked or changed. You will talk about coping techniques with your therapist.

And last but not least, you can post here and get support and feedback. Its always open and the people are great.

I would say that was rapid cycling? Maybe I am wrong though. Rapid Cycling is on the Bipolar Spectrum- There is a wide variety of the disorder. Have you got an appointment to see a Psychiatrist yet?
