I had terrible akathisia on Seroquel. It felt like a true torture. I am afraid of repeat experiences and Abilify, which my new p-doc suggested as an alternative to Geodon, is notorious for it. I am trying to gauge the likelihood of this problem from actual user experience.

If you take another drug that remedies the problem, please list it. Please also say if that drug lowers BP (mine is already low so I cannot take BP-lowering drugs long term).

I took abilify and my doc said I had akathesia so he put me on cogentin which helped but finally switched me to risperdal and that has been great other than some rather unfortunate sexual side effects.

I didn't have restless leg syndrome on Abilify, but I did have horrible side effects to it. I had involuntary muscle movement, I had racing heart and random panic attacks for no reason. I became very fidgetty. I had to constantly be tapping my feet or fingers or rocking back and forth. I would have these moments where I would have to stretch my arms and legs out to full length and hold them very stiffly and hold on for dear life to anything that I could grab. This would happen suddenly and without warrning even when I was driving.

It was absolutely horrible and rather frightening. I was only on it for about two weeks, taking only half a pill twice a day.

Abilify gave me total body spasms. Was taken off it, then placed on Geodon with no problems at all.

When I first start getting it, I found on Wekiep. that large doeses of Vitamin B-6 would help. It did, for about a year and a 1/2 (the best B-6 is the 200mg. at Wal-mart). My body changed, and now I only get it once every 2 or 3 months and it's always at night and the B-6 quit working. My doc knows I have it, so when I showed the printout of wekiep. that said I think it's spelled propanotol (it's a high blood bressure med but it's used for A. He gave me a scrip for 100 pills. I've had to take one, and honey, it worked quick like 15 or 20 minutes. I got heartburn from it but who cares? The info you need to take to your doc is in Google under Akesinesa (Ican't spell) wekiepiedia. I hope this helps, Owl.

its been good to me, but too large a dose can easily put someone on the sidelines. I'm dropping dose by 25 percent after this week for that problem.

I was completely asexual on Risperdal. Worse than Geodon. You have my sympathy.

High likelihood, based on the poll. Of course it is a small sample, but still...
