I was recently hospitalized for suicidal thoughts & cutting. I stayed in the hospital for a little over two and 1/2 weeks. However, I think that I came home to soon. I don't want to go back because the reason for me leaving was due to my family pushing for me to come home. So confused. Still down & I feel so lost! Any suggestions?

you should go to IOP (intensive outpatient program). i remember they MADE me go to it when i got out of the hospital. i don't remember exactly how it was like cause it was so long ago, but i'm sure it would definitely help if you don't feel comfortable being out yet.

It is not nice for the family to push you to do something you are not ready for. But now that it is done, the IOP indeed sounds like the best option.

IOP does sound like a good option, in my case it was an alternative to hospitalization, but it's also a good ending.

Is IOP what my Pdoc calls "Partial"?

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs) may be the same as partial hospitalization programs or different depending on facility.
Partial hospitalization is geared towards patients coming out of hospital or as a alternative to hospitalization. IOPs may allow that population, but they often allow those that do not meet that criteria. They may be working, in fact I know a program that requires that. Sometimes partials allow intake continuously, and IOPs often have a specific intake date. Last edited by Tiger_Lily; Aug 22, 2012 at 10:05 PM. Reason: Additional info added |
