When I was unmedicated and frequently manic and hypo-manic, I never had anxiety. The first anxiety attack came last year. I was on a med cocktail that started to take care of the mania. I am now on an effective med cocktail that prevents both depression and mania, but I have unexplained anxiety attacks (not panic, just anxiety). It seems to be some weird vulnerability that I did not have when mania "protected me". I was very self-assured - nothing to be anxious about.

Has anyone else gone through a similar experience?

for me it seems I am either depressed or anxious. (Or I am in weird manic daze... but even then I am very self-aware and hence anxious too often).

well, perhaps I should count on a miracle (quoting your status) that would relieve me of anxiety. A miracle that is more effective than exercise or Klonopin. I like the idea. Will start the day with it.

Well, since I have GAD I always have anxiety. When I was a little girl it used to be so bad I'd get physically sick. That still happens on occasion, but not nearly as often as before.

But I do notice that if I'm more manic I am more likely to ignore my anxiety or better able to push it aside.

Hi, Hamster. I actually experience the same thing, and I noticed that you are on Geodon like I am. Geodon "withdrawal" will cause anxiety. I used to take 120mg at night, and I would begin to feel anxiety in the morning and throughout the day. I did some research and decided to split the Geodon 60mg in the morning and 60mg at night, and amazingly, the anxiety lowered. Geodon has a short half life, so your body craves it within hours after ingestion.

My pdoc and I are working on hopefully getting off of it completely over time, and I've been on 60mg only at night for a couple months now, which has resulted in some increased anxiety during the day - I'm positive that it is due to the dose of Geodon only once daily. I've read experiences of people who find that going off of Geodon completely results in lowered anxiety once they get through the bad withdrawal period. Let me know what you think!

That is very interesting - my anxiety attacks started shortly after my Geodon dose was increased to the max and the p-doc told me to take the full dose at dinner time, to help with sleep. So maybe that is why I start anxiety in the afternoon!

I will try to get off Geodon too, for anorgasmia reasons. We will see what it will do to the anxiety. Thanks for the thought!
