Hello i have been off my 3 meds for 2 months due to not having health insurance. If this has happened to anyone you know the hell i am going through. I actually had to tell my manager about being bipolar because of my behavior both mania and depression, missing days due to not sleeping 3-4 days at a time. If i ever forgot why or wondered why i am on meds and if i need them i dont wonder anymore. A few days ago i received health insurance-not the type you can walk into pharmacy with prescription-have to see a dr at a place that has own pjarmacy. i work part time and job doesnt offer insurance. I am having a really bad time w/o meds. I have never been hospitalized for bipolar even though a few times last few months i thought i might have to check in somewere (very bad depression). Has anyone been through a partial hospitalization program-i am trying to find the quickest way to get back on my medications again. Thanks

Partial hospitalization is just a day program of learning how to cope with your illness, it doesn't give out medicine like when you are inpatient.

We have two types here, we have outpatient intensive therapy, which is a day program. And they do not deal with medications at all.

Second we have a semi-inpatient program, you are required to sleep there, it is not in the hospital, but down the street, it's a small facility for mental illness, you are free to leave during the day, and return by a certain time in the evening, they have pdocs who make rounds, and nurses on staff. This offers a lot more freedom than inpatient. It is place for patients that do not need to be held 24/7, and for patients that have been inpatient for a long time, and need a more gradual return to home. They do deal with your meds and issues. Maybe they have something like this available?

Our partial hospitalization program is 5 hrs. a day, 5 days a week. They handle meds, 2 groups, and individual therapy.

It sounds like an easy case - your three medications were working for you and you just need to go back on them. A partial hospitalization seems to be an overkill for your situation. You do not need all that intensive therapy that is always part of partial hospitalization. You need to go to that doctor who is connected with the pharmacy approved by your insurance and ask him or her to be put back on your meds; they probably won't be able to put you back on the same dosages right away, but they will prepare a plan for you for how to titrate up.
