Has anyone noticed that their mood is better when they are sick? I have a virus, nothing serious, taking zinc lozenges and Tylenol and an occasional naproxen. I feel like doing nothing, but other than that, I'm less depressed and anxious than usual. No hypomanic symptoms for sure, just more stable. Has anyone else noticed this?

I have noticed this too when I have the flu. It seems the body overlooks the mental aspect of the illness and starts to fight off the physical problems. I have also noticed I don't snap at people when I'm physically ill. You brought up an excellent point!

Of course I'm not always in an episode, so there's not a ton of data(!)
But, I'd say not so much. Though if in extreme physical pain, can think of nothing else, so wouldn't have a clue what's happening on the other channels. As for lesser situations... I find it's not so much that I feel better moodwise as not having enough energy to express it. (Which... a lot I keep in, so guess that means rambunctious/obnoxious features. ![]() Thinking on it, I'd say the only time I feel mentally better in such a situation is if an agreeable med is in the mix. Lol. Then I just don't care. La da di da. |

When I get sick its just one more burden to bear and I of course feel worse.
