I'm 23 and been fighting for long time and losing badly

Was planning to resume and try college again in the spring. Got letter though my disability is approved, so dads sending me to a group home.

All my hopes and dreams are over now. This will be my life now. I always knew I'd get screwed over in life, but not like this

This isn't a permanent thing, is it, Jelcen? Isn't it possible that you may recover with assistance in a group home and later be able to find independence in a job, maybe marry and have a family?

I hope so.

Your dad had a tough decision to make, too. I hope you will receive the financial benefits. If so, try to save as much as you can for your future.

Take care of yourself.

Take care of yourself and know that things can get better a group home is not end of the line for some it's a new beginning. Just use this opportunity to get better and move on. It's not the end of the world I know plenty of people to go to group homes and they get well enough to move on with their life. Just keep your head up.

If you had a dream of college, then dream of going to college from that group home. I work in a small college, and we have students there who live in group homes and attend part time. One just got a part time job in the book store on campus for the Winter Term & will continue with her part time courses.

With all the community colleges around now and financial help available, find the nearest school to you home after you settle in and check things out.

It doesn't have to be only a dream, JelcenT. I see kids in group homes doing it. One of these days one of them will graduate, too, even if it takes them longer. Perseverance ... or in other words, stubborn. So what else you going to do at that group home?

Even if right now you can't attend school, you can always study and test for college credit. Have your goal in therapy to get to the point where your stable and have your licence, save your "allowance" for a car, and then go to college. If you talk to the disability services at the college there is away that you can take part-time and stay in the dorms. Instead of the group home try to do that.
