I'm only just getting used to music again.

there are lots of songs around for a pick-me-up where ya just maybe not be able to help ya-self but feel a bit better...when listening

anyway todays choice for me is "Red Hot Chilli Peppers"...it's a bit manic too...

Get on Top : this one just makes me grin...I cannot help it...."tis a good thing"

Get on Top Get on Top

Hit me come get me I bite but she bit me

Go-rilla ****-illa
Sammy D and Salmonella
Come with me cause I'm an a*s killer
You're I'll but I'm iller

I'll malinger on your block and
Give the finger to a cop and
Pick a lock before I'll knock and
Set you up to get on top

Complications of a mastermind
Last temptation of my kind
Extra planetary sign
When do we align
All in time
Right on

Get up and come sit up I light but she lit up

Grass Hopper Show Stopper
The life of a Wife Swapper
Come with me cause I'm a big bopper
You do but I wopper

Exterminate my cause
You want to draw some straws
Be the one to see my flaws
Make me bleed with painted claws

Complications of a mastermind
Last temptation of my kind
Extra planetary sign
When do we align
All in time
Right on

Get on Top Get on Top

Hit me come get me I bite but she bit me

Speed Baller Rhodes Scholar
Bottom b*t*h and a Bottom Dollar
Come with me cause I'm a free faller
You hoot but I holler

I'll malinger on your block and
Give the finger to a cop and
Pick a lock before I'll knock and
Set you up to get on top

Get on Top
Get on Top
Get on Top

...it's actually about bein' high!.....but thats ok

(any additions would be cool)

...ok I better sneak one more in...

Jump ......Van Halen.....1984

I get up, and nothing gets me down.
You got it tough. I've seen the toughest around.
And I know, baby, just how you feel.
You've got to roll with the punches to get to what's real
Oh, can't you see me standing here?
I've got my back against the record machine
I ain't the worst that you've seen.
Oh, can't you see what I mean?

Ah, I might as well jump. Jump!
Might as well jump.
Go ahead, jump. Jump!
Go ahead, jump.

Aaa-ohh Hey you! Who said that?
Baby how you been?
You say you don't know, you won't know
Until you begin.
So can't you see me standing here?
I've got my back against the record machine
I ain't the worst that you've seen.
Oh, can't you see what I mean?

I might as well jump. Jump!
Go ahead and jump.
Might as well jump. Jump!
Go ahead, jump. Jump!

Might as well jump. Jump!
Go ahead and jump.
Get it and jump. Jump!
Go ahead and jump.
Jump!
Jump!
Jump!
Jump!

Chilli Peppers again...

parallel universe

Deep inside of a parallel universe
It's getting harder and harder
To tell what came first

Under water where thoughts can breathe Easily

Far away you were made in a sea
Just like me

Chorus
Christ I'm a sidewinder I'm a
California King
I swear it's everywhere
It's everything

Staring straight up into the sky
Oh my my a solar system that fits
In your eye Microcosm

You could die but your never dead spider web
Take a look at the stars in
Your head fields of space kid

Chorus x2

Psychic changes are born in your heart
Entertain
A nervous breakthrough that makes us the
same
Bless your heart girl

Kill the pressure it's raining on
Salty Cheeks
When you hear the beloved song
I am with you

I just change the California to where I live...easy as....yepster!

Chillie Peppers are always a good choice. Even their sad songs are up-beat a lot.

I'm a big music fan and I love all types of music. Right now my big "up-beat" singer is Katy Perry. Her songs usually get me dancing and singing at the top of my lungs in the car. My favorite song by her for uplifting myself though:

Firework

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag,
Drifting through the wind
Wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards,
One blow from caving in?

Do you ever feel already buried deep?
6 feet under, screams but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in you

You just gotta ignite the light, and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colours burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
You're gonna leave 'em all in "awe, awe, awe"

You don't have to feel like a wasted space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

Maybe your reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will glow
And when it's time, you'll know

You just gotta ignite the light, and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colours burst
Make 'em go "Oh, Oh, Oh"
You're gonna leave 'em all in "awe, awe, awe"

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It's always been inside of you, you, you
And now it's time to let it through

'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, Oh, Oh"
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colours burst
Make 'em go "Oh, Oh, Oh"
You're gonna leave 'em all in "awe, awe, awe"

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon

red hot chili peppers
Cant stop

Can't stop addicted to the shin dig
Chop top he says I'm gonna win big
Choose not a life of IMITATION
Distant cousin to the reservation
Defunkt the pistol that you pay for
This punk the feeling that you stay for
In time I want to be your best friend
East side love is living on the west end
Knocked out but boy you better come to
Don't die you know the truth as some do
Go write your message on the pavement
Burn so bright I wonder what the wave meant
White heat is screaming in the jungle
Complete the motion if you stumble
Go ask the dust for any answers
Come back strong with fifty belly dancers.

The world I love
The tears I've dropped
To be part of
The way you can't stop
Ever wonder if it's all for you
The world I love
The trains I hopped
To be part of
The wave can't stop
Come and tell me when it's time to
Sweetheart is bleeding in the snowcone
So smart she's leading me to ozone
Music the great communicator
Use two sticks to make it in the nature
I'll get you into penetration
The gender of a generation
The birth of every other nation
Worth your weight the gold of meditation
This chapter's gonna to be a close one
Smoke rings I know your gonna blow one
All on a spaceship persevering
Use my hands for everything but steering
Can't stop the spirits when they need you
Mop tops are happy when they feed you
J. Butterfly is in the treetop
Birds that blow the meaning into bebop

The world I love
The tears I've dropped
To be part of
The wave can't stop
Ever wonder if it's all for you
The world I love
The trains I hopped
To be part of
The wave can't stop
Come and tell me when it's time to

Wait a minute I'm passing out
Win or lose just like you
Far more shocking
Than anything I ever knew
How about you
Ten more reasons
Why I need somebody new just like you
Far more shocking than anything I ever knew
Right on cue

Can't stop addicted to the shindig
Chop Top it says I'm gonna win big
Choose not a life of imitation
Distant cousin to the reservation
Defunkt the pistol that you pay for
This punk the feeling that you stay for
In time I want to be your best friend
Eastside love is living on the westend
Knocked out but boy you better come to
Don't die you know the truth as some do
Go write your message on the pavement
Burn so bright I wonder what the wave meant

Kick start the golden generator
Sweet talk but don't intimidate her
Can't stop the gods from engineering
FEAR no need for any interfering
Your image in the dictionary
This life is more than ordinary
Can I get two maybe even three of these
Comin' from a space to teach you of the Pleiades
Can't stop the spirits when they need you
This life is more than just a read through

AirWar by Crystal Castles, this song always puts me in a really good upbeat mood. Chilli Peppers are good yes!

Bronze by gold heard the hoofrons,
steelyringing imperthnthn thnthnthn.

Chips, picking chips off rocky thumbnail, chips.
Horrid! And gold flushed more.

A husky fifenote blew.
Blew. Blue bloom is on the
Gold pinnacled hair.
A jumping rose on satiny breasts of satin,
rose of Castille.

Trilling, trilling: I dolores.
Peep! Who's in the... peepofgold?
Tink cried to bronze in pity.
And a call, pure, long and throbbing. Longindying call.

Decoy. Soft word. But look! The bright stars fade. O rose! Notes
chirruping answer. Castille. The morn is breaking.
Jingle jingle jaunted jingling.
Coin rang. Clock clacked.

Avowal. Sonnez. I could. Rebound of garter. Not leave thee.
Smack. La cloche! Thigh smack. Avowal. Warm. Sweetheart,
goodbye!

When love absorbs. War! War! The tympanum.
A sail! A veil awave upon the waves.
When first he saw. Alas!
Full tup. Full throb.
Warbling. Ah, lure! Alluring.

Martha! Come!
Clapclop. Clipclap. Clappyclap.
Goodgod henev erheard inall.
A moonlight nightcall: far: far.
I feel so sad. P. S. So lonely blooming.

Listen!
The spiked and winding cold seahorn. Have you the? Each and
for other plash and silent roar.
Pearls: when she. Liszt's rhapsodies. Hissss.
Thanks for this!

The Knife ~ Kino... this song is upbeat, unusual and beautiful all at the same time, makes me really hyper exstatic.

I heard a puff
I heard a blow
I felt the ground
I felt the snow
I thought of linen and of lace
I never really saw his face

I heard a grunt
I heard a moan
I felt the sun
I saw the moon
I saw the northern light above
and the eclipse of the sun

I am a breath
I am a wish
I am a rocket
and a fish
I felt his measures and his weight
my own body as a scale

I heard a whisper in my ear
you are not here, you are not here
I saw the northern light above
and the eclipse of the sun

my feet was hurt and heals were sore
and I wondered why it burned
and I wondered why it burned

Then I had to climb down
I went down to see the sun rise
and then I had to climb back up again
I had to be there to see the sun rise
All the air that you sent to guide me
had a tone of the elephant grey
we were all there in the morning
we were there and we wanted to stay

Now I have to go listen the the other songs you guys posted, so much different than reading the lyrics.

Double Monkey, I think you would enjoy the first song, it's got a nice Galactic feel. Or you might hate it , I dunno.

Just wanted to say thanks "Dubble", I saw this thread earlier today and got me flippin through the discs in my mind jukebox. It landed 01-10....that's "We Built This City On Rock And Roll". It was ok the first time around, but then I realized that it short-circuited and began to repeat..over..and over...and over. D*nm old jukebox! But I just in hindsight it did occupy my mind and got me threw the crappy day. So, I guess really.....Thanks "Dubble".
Anyway, here are my sugggestions, but only because they give me meaningless thoughts for a while. I use them when I run because if I didn't have something plugging up my ears keeping the paranoia out I wouldn't get five feet from my car.

"Everybody wants to rule the world"- Tears for fears

"Safety dance"- Men without hats

"Putting on the Ritz"- Taco

"Keep your hands to yourself"- Georgia Satellites

"Little Red Corvette"- Prince

Yeah they're oldies, but like I said, they have meaningless words and also, you like what you like.

Well, let an old woman tell you a few songs. First is called Mother's Little Helper by the Stones, probably done before you were born "What a drag it is getting old." Life is different today I hear ever mother say..doctor please, some more of these, outside the door, she dook 4 more (I was 11).A song called Our House by thebest, wonderful, whatever you can say Crosby Stills, and Nash is a beautiful soft Graham Nash love song. Of course Tell me what I'd say by Ray Charles always makes me feel good. And the newestis I will always Love you by Taylor Dayne. But he got hooked on crack and I had to divorce him in 2000.

You can't go wrong with Howard Jones "Things Can Only Get Better" - oh, and Owllover - how about "Escape" by Rupert Holmes (The Pina Colada Song).

And even though it's about a sad event, the beat to American Pie just makes me want to dance.

You know what song always cheers me up???

Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen! Sure the theme is kind of dark but I always sing it at the top of my lungs.

Another dark "up beat" song? Maxwell's Silver Hammer by the Beatles. Haha... I love that song...
