I asked my Dr. About SS and she said she would stand behind me since I'm Bipolar 1 with ADD and severe anxiety I shouldn't have any problems other than jumping through the normal hoops. My only concern is that it says something about having to work at least 4 mo (I think) within the last 10 yrs. I've only worked about 3. I can't hold a job due to anxiety.
Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it!

Go to your local SS office and get a printout of what you would be eligible for based on your work history.

Good luck with this!

Good Luck

I have been in the process for just over 18 months and my attorney expects to get a court date for jan/feb 2013. I kept having to fill out bundles and bundles of paperwork and questions for social security.

The process should be easier and faster !

You may not be able to get social security disability because you do not have enough work quarters, but you would be eligible for SSI. We handled SSI applications when I worked for the welfare office in Florida.. You may want to check there. They can process your application for you which is good. Note though that every state is different. I worked for the State of Florida so check your welfare office and the state regs. Good luck to you!!

Good luck to you! I really know nothing about the process, but I hope it goes well.

Hi,

I'm on SSDI and they went through 11 years of my 20 year work history to set the payout. I had a friend on SSI and she received about $600 a month, food stamps, and medicade. But after her mother passed and she inherited money they kicked her off of SSI.

I used a lawyer (they take 25% of backpay) and it took about 6 months to be approved. You also have to have medical paperwork and it helps that a Dr. will back your case. They went through 3 years of my medical history.

Good Luck and PM me with any questions,

TnT
