*Trigger for mention of suicidal thoughts
I'm in the middle of a mixed episode without psychotic features. I feel like I'm facing the gates of hell. ![]() ![]() I am so hesitant to call my p-doc before my apt in a week and a half. I don't know what her obligation is and I'm terrified she will try to admit me to a hospital against my will. I know technically they aren't supposed to be allowed to unless you are planning to harm yourself immediately or something like that, but I have heard horror stories of doctors getting 72 hours holds for situations outside the normal scope. Maybe it's me being paranoid right now. My husband does a wonderful job taking care of me. My p-doc doesn't know us really, and she can't possibly really know with certainty that he can keep me safe when he is here (he does take work from home when I am in a bad way) and she can't possibly believe that I won't act on suicidal ideation while he is away. I am overwhelmed and sad and just plain scared right now. ![]() He absolutely can't cancel this trip for work. We are barely getting by and this is a must-go trip to keep his job. His job is what gives us the stability we do have. I know somebody is going to pipe up that it's more important he stay home, but believe me, him losing his job is just going to make me even more messed up in the head. I figure someone here probably won't get that, but it's how it is. I may not have it all together right now, but I know that is true. Sigh. I don't expect anyone to have solutions for me. I could just use some really positive vibes right now. Please just be encouraging. I am just so sad. And so scared. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by PiperLeigh; Nov 07, 2012 at 12:18 PM. |

You can try a low dose of Seroquel on a Friday night and a Saturday night, to see if you are groggy in the morning.
I agree with the decision not to take benzos. They are probably PRN anyway, so you are still med-compliant. |

I have this "HAPPY-O-MATIC joy-blaster emotion-rifle" that I bought on ebay. If you give me a compass direction, I can fire off some shots in your general direction. Here's hoping they make it to you!

Piper, if you're willing to take a chance on this, it might really help you to get calm.
Please get about a dozen large lemons at the grocery store. Also get some calcium lactate tablets from a pharmacy. When you get home, cut one lemon in half and squeeze it into a glass of ice cold water (about 8 oz). In four hours if you aren't better, repeat the process, squeezing another lemon into ice cold water and take a calcium lactate tablet. Both those things have a strong alkalizing effect on the fluids and tissues and are really extraordinarily helpful for calming your system. Usually for me, two lemons are all that are required to get a grip on the racing thoughts or off-the-wall ideas. Barring that, try molybdenum (a mineral that acts on sulfites--you could be having a problem with sulfates in your system. (Available at a pharmacy, probably--I know that GNC and Vitamin Shoppe carry it. I use it daily to counteract anything such as toothpaste, soap, msg (monosodium glutamate used in restaurant cooking particularly) or anything else having a sulfur thiol. (50 to 100 mcg. daily work for me, but we're all different, of course.) First, I'd try the lemon for about 2.5 days and then take a look at how you feel. Stop using any stimulants for two days, as well--caffeine, etc. (no coffee, tea, or chocolate). If you're much better after two days, you'll know that your diet is playing a big role in what's happening to the chemistry of your fluids and tissues. That's the most constructive advice I can offer you except to say that I know the racing thoughts and can always trace it to too much acidity created by diet and meds. (All meds leave an acidic residue when metabolized; that's a bigger problem than we know, especially when we're taking more than one drug for an illness.) Please keep in touch and let everyone know if you're improving. You're in my prayers, too. |
