Hi everyone. Sorry ive disappeared for awhile. Been so depressed. Dr told me she's noticed my weight gain and thinks staying on meds is best. But now I want off of it. I have suffered from anorexia several times in past and I'm in meltdown mode. Trying to fight this demon that's in my head since she said it. I've known I have but everyone's been kind and saying they don't notice. Now I got the truth and I literally can't function. I know it's not such a big deal but my brain can't shut this stuff up and I'm a mess. Not looking for attention-just help to get this cloud outta my head. It won't lift and I feel comatosed from it.

If it helps I have gained a ton lately and I don't seem to be able to squelch it. See my pdoc Wednesday - see if she says anything.

I'm in Wellbutrin and Lamictal. Thought both were weight neutral but gained 15 lbs. I'm so disgusted

I too have anorexia ... and weight gain from a medication can send us flying into a mess. When I gained weight from meds My Pdoc and I have a long discussion. He knew I would just stop taking my meds. So we worked to find medications that... "for me" were actual weight neutral. Some doctors feel weight gain is fine as long as your " stable" Ummm I do not believe that at all. Expecially when you toss in anorexia to the mix. I am so sorry you are going through all this. People that have never had anorexia are unable to understand why even a few pounds of weight gain can and often does send someone into a spiral.

Maybe you need to go back to your Pdoc and explain that you need to find other options. Yes you have other options.

Feel free to Pm me anytime.

I used to be very thin. And since I'm only getting fatter they might not take me seriously. I can't stand what Zyprexa is doing to me.

Oh thank you morethingswrong for knowing what I'm going through. I'm not kidding you and I know you understand, how it is to be Anorexic and hear "weight gain". OMG I'm seriously having this demon eating at my brain. I know I'm in a good place. Supposedly both Wellbutrin and Lamictal are weight neutral. Been through so many meds and this cocktail seems the best so far except weight gain. Pdoc says I'm happier and eating more. She thinks I look better. Do I take that as good? I don't physically feel attractive at all. I feel mentally wonderful. Where do I go with this???

I have not started on it yet. I will first try Topamax for weight loss, and then if it does not work well enough, add WB. I am only thinking of doing it for weight loss as I do not need another AD - Prozac is enough for me. Another thing is that WB makes some people more sexual and that would be an interesting side effect - I am fine as is, but more... interesting .

This might seem like a weird question but how does SHE look? The p-doc who put me on Zyprexa for a month and then took me off it because I gained weight said that I looked better - she liked how the weight made my face smooth and round. But the thing is, she herself was a pretty round woman so she was biased!

I'm sorry that you have gained weight on this combo. I'm really surprised your pdoc did not change your meds. The effectiveness does not help if you can't take meds because of fear of weight gain. Please call your pdoc! This does require a med change as fast as a mood swing issue. She should not have just blown it off. Does she know you have a history with ED? This actually makes me upset. Where you put on them at the same time? Are you willing to adjust one medication at a time?

Treating a person with a history of ED is much more complicated as our metabolism, brain functioning, and non-triggering meds our completely different than others. I'm really, really sorry this happened.

Hamster--she's Indian and pretty petite. She did have a baby 6 mos ago and wears baggy dresses so I can't make out her body. She didnt say it mean-she was very sweet. But I don't think I mentioned my ED to her. I really can't tolerate most meds. I become a zombie and I have restless legs all night. I dress all of that. Rather be med free than to run in my bed. Lol. She's a very well known dr that's won awards for her work. I do like her alot and we discuss my life situations and personal things all the time. I'm confused as to why two meds that are supposed to be weight neutral made me gain. Seems almost unheard of with these meds.

You really, really, need to tell your Pdoc why you can't gain weight and talk about med free. Pdoc probably won't want you off meds but she can tell you how wean off and what your options are.

and Passion.... whatever you do, don't quit your meds abruptly. Try to look to supplements, bach essences, alternative stuff that could help you possibly reduce your needed doses. And tell doc about your concerns. Because being wreck because of your weight gain is by no means "stable".

Hi,
I'm also on Wellbutrin and Lamictal, but they are weight-neutral to me. I did gain weight on Zyprexa a few years ago, a lot of weight that I can't shake off now, it's devastating really. If you feel much better with these meds, maybe it's worth staying on them, especially if the weight gain is minimal. And I'm sure you weren't overweight to begin with, so it's maybe true that you look better now. However if you feel it's really too much, talk to your doctor about it and try to find a new combination maybe. That worked for me.
Good luck!
