My pdoc mentioned this today because of my hallucinations so often lately. She doesn't think it's full schizophrenia. She also mentioned OCD! :-o

Is she considering schizoaffective? That might be the case since you said you have the hallucinations outside of mood.
I think the bonus to having the diagnosis would be that when you are having hallucinations and delusions it would be easier for health care to identify with what's happening. I'm not sure how much different the treatment would be, probably not much different at all really.

I doubt it changes your treatment plan, maybe a dosage adjustment would do. AP's were originally for SZ, and you already use a MS and probly AD too, so medwise you're covered. Bcoz of this, I never bothered to mention to my then pdoc, my hallucinations and delusion (1) outside of my episodes... Mine however, are more bothersome, irritating and disconcerting than problematic,and you struggle with yours, so I'm glad you mentioned it. Its good to keep your pdoc in the loop with these things

Don't worry, Moose, it will all be okay.
I often wonder what my Dx would be if I'd been seen during my 5+ year delusion. But, oh well, right? I wouldn't be surprised to learn I'm in the same boat as you.

Trippin told me recently I do something OCD. Like I get obsessive thoughts and can't escape them and do a ton of research to relieve it. Something like that. I never considered myself OCD or considered I might have it, since those only happen when I'm having triggered episodes. But, possible.
Maybe you have something similar?

I love to count things. Always have. Sometimes I have to make sure items are exactly equal in distance from each other. I will count tiles in the bathroom. At the same time I can be messy. I also make up rules that i cant break. Like stepping on cracks or crossing at the the right part of the street. I'm one or the other- not very much inbetween.

I also read things I write over and over to get every nuance out of it and into it.

Haha Moose,you sound like me with the cracks and the obsessive reading, and I have a formal dx. But, like dhx mentioned, it can be very thought orientated. Mine's at its worst within an episode, a thought will loop and loop and loop for hours, mostly a negative one, and obviously it disrupts my 'usual' stuff I actually need to think about. So its quite bothersome, as it ends up slowing me down with its incessant interuptions... Know why I thought I wasnt OCD? I'm not a neat freak, thought is was criteria...

When I get into a really bad episode I go on this "quest" to find answers and I can't stop. I can't. The thoughts bombard me and I have to find the answers to them. That's what brought me to PC in the first place. That episode lasted four months but I'm still healing from it.

I find that collecting thoughts is addictive. I am a flow of creativity lately hence the blog I keep on being bipolar.
