Hmmm... there is a cost to being honest and trying your best to help someone. Once you have put it out there, there is a nervous feeling, where you can't wait for a response to see if you have burnt a bridge or not.

I posted a response, to a young, young teenage girl, about sex. I only tried to guide them, the same way I guide my own girl that is nearly her age. but in doing so, I don't know. I said nothing wrong, but I am a guy. I'm not comfortable with guys talking to young girls about things like this, but the dad in me took over...

I don't know how well received I will be. I sure hope they heard me, but the cost of what I said may be another burnt bridge. I don't know. This all makes me anxious. Someone needed to say what I did though... ESPECIALLY if no one had told her before.

guess that's a chance I have to take. maybe i'm the first person to tell her that, or maybe I'll just come across as being a creepy dude. I'm NOT creepy, it's just a sensitive subject and I may have crossed a line. IDK.

But what I said was true and it was good. Ugh... why did it have to come from me though.

like I said, I am a dad and I felt protective. So if your reading this, that was my intention.

I'll take a look at the thread.

I know what you mean about being a guy and posting about this subject to a young girl. I've read many posts that I wanted to say something, because I have 10 and 15 year old daughters. I am sure what you said was sincere and will be taken as such.

I have to agree with the above post. You did sound like a caring father and nothing more.

What this means is that you know you'll have the appropriate answer to your daughters so you can support them when they come to that age. If you're able to be open with them and show them how concerned you are about their dating life (in a non-intrusive way) they will most likely tell you what is going on in their relationship and hopefully pick men who are worthy of their attention.

I agree with the rest... You sounded like a dad giving advice, not some creeper. Seriously.

Dan it was a sensible and good post! I agree with what you said, and no lines crossed at all. Trust that, we know that. Maybe sometimes it's also good to get perspective from just one gender too.

Also Dan I am glad you did post, because you also mentioned the online safety which is very important. Obviously your intentions are exactly where they should be. Don't worry, no one else is at all.

Yeah, I agree. You mentioned online safety which I think a lot of teens forget because online is such a normal part of their lives.

You are definately a dad. No need to be sorry about that.

I don't think you crossed the line. I've been on the receiving end of an adult who was not well intentioned while passing it off as education. Your advice sounded like a dad offering good information that every teenager needs to hear.
