ummmmm.... mimicking behaviour... or feeding off somebody's energies surely ain't a disease.... but it can happen.

If you are around perky people, you gonna adt (likely) differently then around people chill to the core.
Behaviors and moods CAN rub off onto others.

I'm saying that someone told me that because they're around me so much that their moods have been changing. (even when they're not around me) ,, So basically they think that my bipolar is like contagious or something, and it's not! not at all. UGH.!

You don't even know if you have Bipolar or not.. If your friend is all worried she may "catch it" .... Tell her to "google" bipolar and read the definition. Teenage hormones are all over the place and apparently shes very impressionable. Maybe just stop talking to her about your moods and how you feel day to day???.. You worry about you and let her worry about her and be friends on a happier set of topics.

Just my opinion of course.

Good Luck

I agree with more things wrong. Tell her to google the definition. it's probably hormones. you are right it's not a disease and people can not catch it.

I know you are upset with this, and her response. Christina is right tho, just worry about you, and she can worry about her.

Self dx is a dangerous thing to do.. it really is like playing with fire. You could really burn yourself with that. Not only that, what if it turns out to not be bipolar.. you already are calling yourself it or telling others you are. Not easy to take it back if you are not, and how will you feel about it if you set yourself up to be "it" too much and then you are not?

It's not her that said that. & I'm not exactly sure if that's how he meant it or not, but that's the way I took it at the time and it just made me mad cause it's not like I have a disease or something.. it's not contagious... it's just something that I have to live with...

so what if they meant simply... your moods influence them? It might not be even outright negative thing they meant.

people tell me I make them hyper when i am manic around them. I made my roommates not to sleep, download children's songs off the internet and blast them while singing along (they claimed they are normally not that silly).

how is his relationship with him otherwise?

He could be BS-ing. Or be verrrry emotionally invested in you (which then can... screw one up).

He loves me very much. He would do ANYTHING for me. I know he would. He's made it pretty obvious.

You gotta just talk to him about it, how you're thinking about what he said. Find out if he thinks your moods are the cause for his moods or problems? My guess is he didn't mean it negatively and did not want to hurt your feelings.

Do you feel like he minimalized your problems by saying that? Maybe he just cares for you so much that when he sees you hurting, he hurts.

I don't know :/ & I can't really talk to him for awhile. he's working 12 hour shifts, and sleeping the rest of the time.

I can see how someone's MH can encourage unhealthy habits or strain on others, making them just a little bit more prone to experiencing MH issues themselves.

"Mirroring" is very common with flirting...some people simply take it to new extremes in an attempt to seem more relatable and desirable.

We've been together for a year and a half. I don't think that's it. -I think I just overreacted to be honest.

Hmm can you ask her to take you to the dr. instead. Then maybe the dr could speak with your mother and tell her that you need see someone.

I am sorry she has not taken you yet. Maybe if she hears it from someone else it will cause her to take action? Can counselors dx people there, forgive me for the question because I am in canada and only a dr can make dx here. Usually a psychiatrist.

I am sorry I assumed it was a she, when in fact it's a he. Is this your boyfriend?
