Can you talk to the doctor directly? Lexapro made me hallucinate, everything looking warped and moving, and streaks of color. It can have weird effects, also anti-depressants are well known for strange effects on bp people. I'm shocked if pdoc says it couldn't induce a mania.

And what is that supposed to mean, mania caused by illness not med...? If that's the case then your med isn't doing its job to manage the illness. I'm assuming the illness is bp depression?

Thats odd, I wonder if he even considered it for a second. Because me I cannot be on SSRIs because of this problem I liked it but my doc said it was un healthy. Oh well I suppose and that was on lexapro. Good luck maybe you need to talk to your pdoc directly.

sorry, yes it is bp depression. and I actually hallucinated yesterday and heard music that wasn't there..though not terribly..although only having 18 hrs. of sleep and smoking too much weed probably caused it...I ended up getting 13 hrs. of sleep last night finally and feel a little more normal...I will probably just wait it out a little longer and if symptoms last will call again...and I guess maybe it's not doing the job..i'm on lamictal 400 should I try lithium?

Rofl... well I was on zero weed or anything else when I had the hallucinations.. if you don't usually get hallucinations from pot, and suddently do on lexapro then it's the lexapro causing it. I preferred lithium to lamictal, you could try that. And all the sleeping, probably caused by the risperdal right, and should wear off once you get used to it? I would think you could do without lexapro if you were on lithium. Lithium is supposed to be good for bp depression. I'm off it now, but it helped me at one time.

The maximum dosage for Lexapro is 20 mg so you are on double the maximum dosage. Lexapro is an antidepressant of which can cause mania in people who are prone to mania. If an antidepressant is used in treatment then it must be offset with a mood stabilizer or an antipsychotic to prevent mania. I would suggest you talk to your pdoc about either decreasing your Lexapro or increasing your Risperdal or Lamictal because the status quo isn't working for you. And if your current pdoc doesn't address your symptoms/concerns then I suggest you find a new pdoc who will.
Thanks for this!
