I just got moved up to 40mg lexapro and it's a disaster for the most part. Has mad me manic and my anger is out of control. Antideppressants have never been effective for me unless I was abusing zoloft(300-400mg) I have never taken wellbutrin though. I've heard it's effective when used with lamictal and can also help with fatigue along with smoking. Anyone taking wellbutrin and is it effective? compare/contrast with other AD's thanks! Merry Christmas!

Wellbutrin works well for a lot of people. But for some of us, the stuff is a disaster---it made me manic and caused fits of psychotic rage, while none of the other ADs I've ever been on had that effect. Good luck with it, I hope it works for you.

Wellbutrin is good for the things you list, but it is also an antidepressant. As far as I am aware, if may be more prone to give you irritability and rage, along with anxiety.

I am perhaps going to talk about starting up wellbutrin again with the lamictal I am on currently.

I've taken them together and did not see any improvement. Now on 20mg Lexapro and 1350mg Lithium but honestly, I would not mind getting manic from it. Anything is better than this debilitating depression most of the time.

I liked it. I'm off of it now cuz my body wants a break from meds. I have add dx too and it helps with that. Really hard to tell how bp'ers will react to all the available meds.

I find Wellbutrin and a mood stabilizer work very well together.

I wish it had worked for me. I lost about 20 lbs. within weeks and had a ton of energy. Too bad all that energy went to waste in furious ranting and raving and generally behaving like a crazy woman. I responded so badly to WB that it's now on my allergies list and the reaction listed in my medical record is "patient became manic and psychotic". Not thrilled with that particular phrasing, but it is what happened.

Yea it made me skinny and horny, able to focus on work, I was having a good time. Pdoc had a different opinion and cut me down to a useless low dose. Didn't want me getting too happy! Added lithium fat maker, downhill from there.

At 300mg the anti-dep properties worked really well, but my anxiety and aggression went through the roof.
Now I'm back down to 150mg, and I don't think it's as effective
