I feel like my 400mg lamictal is beneficial but not enough. I may suggest lithium to p-doc. good idea? and also is it true you have to get checked weekly if on it?

The blood tests get spaced further apart once your pdoc discovers your therapeutic level, I think I went every 6 weeks once I was in therapeutic range, and every 2 weeks before then... Lithium exacerbated my perpetual hunger but sadly I didnt pack on any kilos. I ended up hating it, while quite a few sing its praises, so you wont know until you try...

have been on 450mg. of lithium for over 30 yrs. never needed more as i'm only hypomanic. rarely get blood work done as my lithium levels are less than normal since i'm on a low dose, but it has worked for me. beware of thyroid and parathyroid issues that may arise. never had issues of weight gain ever...drink lots of water.

My pdoc only did lithium levels every 3 months or so once I was on a good dose and having no issues. My husband is on both lamictal and lithium. Fairly common combination.

I'm on 1200 MGs a day and I get checked once a month. Lithium has been great to me but it keeps me more stable then I would want to be but I bet that's a good thing lol.

lamictal 200mg, synthroid 75 mcg, Testosterone injections thanks to lithium causing thyroid problems

im on 1200 a day and my dr. surprisingly doesn't have my blood checked often. Only in the beginning but been on it for about a year now. It helps with my moods, though.

Lithium wasn't good for me. Gave me tremors, and my handwriting has been messed up for a long time because of it. But that could just be my reaction.

I take 900mg a day .. I think it helps. I did blood work a few times when increasing dose.. Last blood work showed me at the low end of "therapeutic range" so I stopped increasing as my Pdoc and I felt it was time to stop fiddling and leave things alone.

Its weight neutral for me. No side effects. You will have to increase your fluid intake unless you are already drinking a couple gallons a day like I do and have done for years.

Hope you find a good Med/ med combo for you
