10 Truths Life Will Teach Us

1. We're all more alike than we are different.

In fact, we should not judge ourselves at all. We should just evaluate who we are and live by our deepest principles. We will be fine with that.

I'm good with all except #4

Yeah I'm good wih it all but number 4 all people have souls. Just others have troubles.

Well, I'm using Dr. Hare's evaluation on No.4 . It is he who says that the psychopath has no soul. (Dr. Hare is the reknowned expert on the psycopath and
has written two books that I am aware of and have read. You probably know them, too. They are "Without Conscience" and "Snakes in Suits".)

Psychopaths have souls -- just different souls. They aren't who they are for no reason... This precept kind of ties into "not all people are born equal".

outside of number four... this should get bumped up. there was a time in my life I could have been called that. but I do have a soul... if they exist.

I think the renowned Dr. Hare may have meant that, since the psychopath is unable to
be empathic, he lacks the sensitivity of what the soul is, and although the psychopath knows the difference between right and wrong, he is interested in power, sex, or money rather than the human emotions that relate to goodness. In addition, the psychopath wants what he wants at that moment; he is unable or unwilling to see beyond his immediate needs for gratification.

One psychiatrist told me that the psychopath has "holes in his conscience"; another told me that the psychopath has "no conscience". The conscience has a huge role to play in the soul, I understand from the Spiritual Exercises of Ignatious Loyola.

If you mean he has within the essence of being subject to hell, I suppose Dr. Hare might think that he has that capacity. But my understanding of what Dr. Hare meant is that the psychopath is cold emotionally, calculating, and dangerous (in the worst case scenario).

They often live a predatory lifestyle. They rarely have long term relationships that are based on love; the psychopath uses the words, but they really have no meaning for him.

Somewhere else I read that the psychopath does indeed have deep emotions, but they are
carefully guarded and when they are released, they can be explosively dangerous.

I guess we have to believe what we wish about the psychopath.
