I've never served on a jury. Never been allowed to. Lawyers always disqualify or pre-empt other lawyers from being on their juries. So every time I've been called, I just sit around and wait to be bumped.

But if I was ever asked the question that you were, I'd resist giving specific information. I'd have responded something like, "I'm not taking any medication that would make me sleepy or prevent me from paying attention to the case."

If the judge ordered me to give more specific info, then I'd probably comply (to avoid being found in contempt), but I'd ask to do so outside the presence of other jurors and court spectators. My answers would show up on the audio-transcript of proceedings, but I doubt that information would ever be compiled into a data-base.

Filling out a jury form with your mental illness, so that they can put you in a data-base of those not to call, might have a different outcome. I'm just speculating now, but I tend to want to keep all my medical information private.

They don't have powerful enough computer systems but we're all screwed if they found a way. They could force insurance companies and pharmacies and therapists and anonymous support groups, but that's such a huge invasion of privacy. Don't worry Moose there are too many of us for them to track, right ? God I hope so.

If the government ever starts such a list and begins to limit "Gun ownership? Professional licensing? Even driver's licensing?" or anything else for that matter, it would be blatant discrimination and an egregious violation of our Constitutional Rights.

I'd start the 2nd Revolutionary War myself if it comes down to this. lol But any intelligent politician would never dare try.
