I'm up to 200mg. Been taking it for nearly 3 weeks and I was sure I'd be better. But I don't feel better. I'm not crying as much but I have a fuse about a millimeter long. I yelled at my 4 month old for crying. Cuz that's productive.

Is it normal to become angry on lamictal? Or is this just me cycling and the lamictal hasn't kicked in yet?

I hate knowing what's wrong but not understanding what's wrong.

U have valid questions. Three weeks should show some signs but u should ask ur pdoc. I took lamictal too but it didn't help me or at least not fast enough. I rapid cycled and had to take something more fast acting. I was put on lithium and Risperdal. I don't rapid cycle anymore. Definitely speak with ur pdoc ASAP. I hope the best for u.

Lamictal helped me but it was a slow gradual thing , but it take time to titrate up on lamictal. I finally got to 150mg and my Pdoc and I decided to hold my dose there and see how it went... I could say I actually noticed it helping me after about 3 months.

It think that it's possible that you need to give the lamictal more time. Don't worry though, there's the possibility of going up on dose and there are more options out there for you.

Please stop yelling at your infant. Ask for something to help with the anger in the interim while you're waiting for Lamictal to be effective. Your child is going to learn from your behavior, andhe/she needs a calm, quiet atmosphere in order to grow into healthy, kind and loving people.

Pick the child up and give it attention and love and try to determine what's happening when it cries at four months of age.

Try to remember that you are trying to help a completely helpless individual when your child is crying.

It is disturbing to the little psyche of a child to have an adult yelling at the youngster.
Thanks for this!

Im sure your intentions were good however, I don't need a lecture about how ****** I am when I'm not in the right place. I'm guilty enough without having a stranger tell me that what I've done is reprehensible.

I love my child. I attend to her needs. Are you a mother? A father? Sometimes you kid cries for no reason you can see and they cry and cry and cry and cry and it's frustrating enough to a healthy person, let alone someone who is trying to get her life back.

Again, I'm sure you didn't mean to be condescending however, my parenting skills are not in question here.

I have no idea if this would make a difference with any med but a woman's hormones are NOT back to normal when infant is only 4 mon old!!

I have been in your shoes & it was tough.
You put your thoughts & experiences on here for support.
Hopefully the lamictal will work better with time or pdoc can make a med change that will work better.

Don't know how much of a support system you have but just having a 2hr break to yourself helps so much. I had no one but we survived (un-medicated at the time).
Lamictal has really helped me but I also take 2 other psych meds & that combo has worked well for me for years. This may have been combo #7 or more so don't give up just yet. Ask pdoc and T for help.

Take good care of yourself.
