Sorry to hear that shattered sanity, but I'm glad you have a team looking out for you.

I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed my mental health retreat. Well...it was just the local hospital's psych ward. But it was just I needed. Sometimes the hardest choice is in going when ya need too! I got my meds worked out, had a stress free week, three meals a day, lots of therapy. Met some cool people. I needed it as I was psychotic and could not function at all. I came out much better. Just my experience.

I barely squeaked out of having to go inpatient a couple of weeks ago myself. My pdoc gave me the choice of going on medical leave of absence from work or checking into the psych unit. Naturally I chose the LOA, and over a week later I'm still out and will be out at least another week.

But it's been good for me, and I'm regaining my strength, though I wish I were far enough along to be able to go back to work this week. Bottom line, we ALL have to try to take good care of ourselves, not only to stay out of the hospital but because we deserve better!!

If that's what they suggest, I think it's a good idea.

I should have gone (strongly suggested) back in Feb but at that point in my mania I was chain smoking & didn't want to give my cigarettes up. Plus I was scared. How stupid and crazy is that? I did go to the ER, was going to try to smuggle in an eCig, but I waited 5 hours and still hadn't been seen, gave me plenty of time to talk myself out of it. I was anything but stable. I could have gotten better faster, instead of suffering at home.

I hope whatever choice you & your team makes helps you get better soon.
