Has anyone else experienced this? My emotions have been going crazy lately. I switched from zyprexa to Geodon two weeks ago and I've been on an emotional roller coaster ride and haven't been getting enough sleep. At first I started taking two 20mg and now I am increasing to four tablets. On zyprexa I was only taking 7mg but was unmotivated and I was afraid of increasing it due to weight gain (in two years I've gained and lost and gained again forty pounds). I am taking the geodon because it does not cause weight gain. I've also noticed I am more motivated than I was before, but also very emotional. I am not sure if I should aim for the month and a half it takes to really kick in or if I should go back to the zyprexa, I am not liking the side effects I'm having but wondering if it will go away once it really kicks in and we find the right dose.

Geodon did make me motivated, but I switched to Geodon from Risperdal which caused low energy and lack of motivation, so maybe there was that. But definitely it is more of a "high energy" drug, in my experience.

Yikes I'm sorry Maybe consider it's related to zyprexa withdrawal and taper down slower? Hope you feel better soon.

Geodon activated my hypomania and I stayed 'high' for the first few weeks after I started it (good thing I take only a baby dose). But after that wore off, I did really well on it and still feel that it's pulled everything together for me.

That makes sense. I'm going to try to go for the full month and see if the side effects go away.

Make sure that you are comparing Geodon with your baseline when you talk about crazy emotions, and not with you on Zyprexa which must have muted you, made you sleepier, etc.

I've never taken either of those meds, but wanted to suggest that maybe you're still withdrawing from the zyprexa? It may be a question of time and riding it out (as you suggest) -but I guess the question becomes weighing the consequences of waiting it out vs will it be worth it and in the end will you feel better. Always a tough question to answer. It sounds like you have very good reasons not to go back to the zyprexa, though. Maybe riding it out and seeing what happens will be the best option?

I know well the rollercoaster of meds. I feel for you and wish you the best of luck!
Thanks for this!

I'm stopping the geodon and switching back to zyprexa. I can't handle the side effects.
