I have sat and read this post and replies for a couple days, Had to come up with words.
Your son deserves more " Respect" This matter should not be about running a mile. Kids are always going to pick on other kids.. It's total ********, I don't know if there is a way to stop the bully's . I was picked on relentlessly for being ugly having glasses and braces, I cried daily. Then adult life hits and hell I have had to deal with bully bosses or coworkers. C, I think you are going to be the reason your son will succeed. Your teaching him that not everyone is the same.Your giving him the tools and support to overcome the Bully's words. You make sure he knows he is special to you and others. Just keep doing what you are doing, it will help his self esteem. As far as this run a mile ..( Ugh I despise running ) maybe over the summer he can work on it ? he won't feel the pressure of other kids or teachers for that matter. maybe that could be his own little personal flip off to all those people that made him feel bad. And for you my friend, You are an amazing Mother, remember that ... please ![]()

He's having a lot of anxiety about this jogging fundraiser they're doing Friday... my son often goes extra slow during any PE running to stay at pace with his best friend with autism who is also overweight. I may keep him home that day. I think it is pretty humiliating for the kids who are not great runners - it's a huge event, all families come, people from the community come. The jogging fundraiser mainly supports Mrs.B's job... she's been very mean to my son over the years, and to my older children when they were there. I don't really feel like supporting her job security, I want her gone tbh.

I'm confused, Blue. Is this a private school or a public school? Why are fundraisers being held to pay for a teacher's job? Also, what's the POD? It sounds like solitary confinement to me! I have students who prefer to work in less crowded areas of the room, but this is usually by choice. I try to strategically place students in seats/groups that allows for fewer distractions. Also, 5 recorded miles in one year? I think our my students only have it recorded once a year. If this is public education, things are definitely different in CA. Bluemountains |

Thanks you guys, I've got tears flowing. It's a public school, blue. And the pod is an indoor area that connects every four classrooms, it's a calm area. I used to sit and help grading papers a few years ago in that area. Theres skylights, high celings. When I was able to volunteer. Middle school did literally lock my older son in an office room daily. That was pure evil, but the pod isn't as bad as it sounds.
So this school is Really into jogging and running... They do a mile a week at least... The kids not the teachers. Asked my son how school was today, was he sent to the pod? He said Mr W told him he should go and my son said, No I'm fine. And that Mr W just walked away. I seriously lmao, my kid is funny. I asked him how running went and he said that he ran an extra lap by choice, and Mr W told him he gets to take a free lap off any future day of his choosing. What a cool kid. He summed up some sort of Viking power today! Thanking god that he seems to have this natural resiliency ... It amazes me, it's a skill I'm still working on. Undecided if we'll attend jogging fundraiser, I want for him to want to do it, I offered him a little money per lap so we'll see. This is a day I've dreaded every year since oldest started this school 14 years ago. We'll decide tomorrow or Thursday, my baby's self esteem comes first. ![]() Skipping topic but FYI we found a surgeon for older sons elbow, we go tomorrow 9am. Please send prayers love you guys ![]() |

![]() Re-bullying: A much bigger built girl who lives in my road taunted me through out my childhood, honestly I dont remember the early details (blocked it out), but from 12 yrs and older, she spread vicious rumours about me (I always had mostly boy friends). I cried and complained for years and my parents said the same thing year after year, hold your head up. ********! You know why? A few yrs ago she was high on meth and drunk (but I didnt know) and she grabbed my ponytail and slammed my face into a car saying I think I'm so much better than everyone else! You know whats worse? I stabbed her... in the lung. I could have gone to jail had she pressed charges, she could have died in that hospital, and why? because I was told to "hold my head up" ![]() She stopped using and drinking after she was discharged, (she blamed he inebriation for the incident) and she greets me if we see eachother in the road, but I never let it go beyond 2 lines max. I stand up for my child, I teach her to stand up for herself too, no hold your head up ******** because I dont want Jordan to suffer the same fate. Ok I just admitted to an intensely violent action, infront of an audience I love and respect, I better go hide now ![]() |

Trippin ,
If someone slammed my face into a car I would stab them also. Or shoot them. I'm sorry you also had to deal with bully ******** and hold your head up is not a solution. ![]()

Yes it's not so simple as "Hold your head up" or "Don't let them bother you" or "Just let it go". So sorry you went through that Lia!!
![]() Parents, teachers, schools, other kids, all need to speak up! We worry about a worse backlash... but look at just how bad a backlash it can turn into, and you're right - you and she both are lucky no one died, and you could've died or had brain damage from having your head smashed ![]() ![]() There's an enlightening documentary called "Bully", they have a FB page also. They're trying to get it shown in more schools. Because of the content it's rated 13+, but I watched it with my 11 yr old (after I watched it alone) because it's a really important topic!! FYI, home now from surgery with older son, they say it went well. He's in pain, waiting for the pain meds to kick in. ![]() |
