Just realized I'm manic. I saw my tdoc yesterday and it never came up. I went to support group this evening and said I had just had two toilets installed on Monday and yesterday I decided I wanted a deck and called a carpenter. Bought a bunch of clothes, books. Am agitated, feel like a tuning fork is vibrating inside me. Skin is crawling. The only thing I have to take is extra klonopin. Wondering if I can wait until Wednesday of next week for ECT to perhaps take care of this.

Try to keep the receipts!!!!

Its probably a good idea just to give the t and such a heads up but enjoy it while it lasts.

I'll keep you in my thoughts and hope for the best for you. <3333

Man do I relate the damn intensity. I'm sorry I'm just learning to deal with this.

I wish truly that I had more to contribute... it's kicking my butt.
I'm just listening to green day trying to get through it...love green day though rage and love the story of my life

It's Thursday (well here anyway) sounds like you need to contact pdoc before weekend.
Know moods can turn on a dime but is it worth it to wait till appt?
Hope you feel better very soon.

Please don't wait! I finally called my pdoc yesterday after a week-and-a-half of a dysphoric mania that's had me chasing my own tail and questioning my sanity, and I wish I hadn't been so stubborn in thinking I could power through it on my own. Please call your pdoc today and request an emergency visit, or see if you can deal with it over the phone; if you're already on an antipsychotic he'll probably have you increase your dosage, or if not he may call in an order for one to your pharmacy. Good luck!

I agree w/ BipolaRN, do you know anyone you can trust? If so give them ur credit/debt cards. This will prevent more spending.

I called my pdoc's nurse and she talked to the doctor. Her recommendations were to have 3 ECTs in a row - tomorrow, Monday, and Wednesday instead of waiting for Wednesday for one treatment. Also 50mg of Seroquel for sleep temporarily. I agreed. I had to cancel a couple of appointments but they should be easy to reschedule. I talked to my tdoc too and she put me on the cancellation list for next week on Tues and Thurs. Insurance doesn't pay for psych appointments on the same day you have ECT with the idea that you wouldn't be thinking clearly.

I have treatment resistant ultradian cycling/mixed state, accompanied by migraines. The amino acid, taurine, which acts like an anti-convulsant and is neuro inhibitory, works for me when I'm extremely manic. I start with 3000mgs and if it doesn't slow me down within a couple of hours, I'll take 5000mgs and sometimes I need to take up to 9000mg. The downside is that it does induce depression(like you, I also take Klonopin), leave you draggy for a couple of days and might constipate you but it does take the wind out of the mania. I'm not a doctor, pharmacist or medical professional of any kind, just an amateur psychopharmacologist.

I have now had two ECT treatments and I'm much better. I don't have the intense urge to buy things, the physical sensations - jittery, tense - are just about gone. The only thing that is still fully around is irritability. I spent the weekend in a crisis center because I couldn't control my spending. I was disappointed. It used to be supported by the county mental health and now it is privately owned and medicare and supplemental policies don't cover it. I have to pay the full price - $600 a night. They do make payment arrangements. I don't know that I'd go there again but it was probably the right call this time.
