Hi everyone,

I missed this site a lot!! I just stepped down from IP to partial hospitalization from 9 to 2 for 3 weeks. The pdoc took me off prozac and doubled my abilify. I finally got sleep after 7 wks with amytriptaline.

My big stressor was the people here who I think have no mental illness but are filing disability and doing drugs. I've met ppl with meth histories that are trying to get checks for paranoid schizophrenia. But I swear bp is like the new adhd. Every other person claimed bipolar and acted like something you would see on a really bad lifetime movie. Screaming obscenities, closing their eyes and shaking their head back and forth, saying hey watch out I'm manic and dangerous or I sm about I am about to have an episode etc.

Congratulations! It's too bad what some of the other patients (inpatient or partial?) are doing. I hope you get the help you need.
Thanks for this!

i dont doubt many faked but how do you know so many were faking.
idk...just throwing that out there.

on the other hand quite a few people fake. especially for disability i hear.
ive never heard of people with bipolar rocking back and forth.
mostly people with schizophrenia and even with that thats not typical.
if you see that they most likely have other issues too going on.

same thing with people hear saying if you type coherently you must be ok/fine.
ridiculous. so psychotic people cant type or people with severe bipolar I or schizophrenia or schizoaffective cant type? i dont buy that because its not true even with cognitive disorganization. not for everyone anyway. i was just posting on the schiz forum i see pretty severe people with schiz on youtube that upload videos all the time.

but i literally am sry you have to deal with people that fake. sorry to hear.

You can't fake a mental illness for disability. It's tough to get approved and you need a lot of evidence such as a long history of psychiatric and psychological care as well as hospitalizations. If someone had all that and were faking it, they seriously do have some kind of mental problems.

Hi,

Thanks for all the replies!! I agree that anyone acting like they have an illness is disturbed mentally on some level. I didn't mean to offend by that statement, but I have been dealing with this illness for years and believe I can spot someone who is not showing the symptoms.

Right now I'm in OP and we got a person who was kicked out of rehab and court ordered to attend. This person was charged with a felony and is in drug court yet claims her problem is not addiction but bipolar. She claimed the pdoc called her a pathological liar at her last rehab.

She also claims to be immaculately impregnanted, the patron saint of all angels - who she hangs out with daily, mutters obsenities, gibberish and insults when we are trying to learn and laughs whenever another person is upset or crying. She has called me and the therapist fat, old, and told us we are close to needing dentures.

Yes, she is young and immature with obviously something wrong. I'm just upset because I am paying to be there and get better. I am a recovering addict who doesn't wish to hear someone rant about all their drugging. And it makes me as a bipolar feel invalidated and insulted like she is making fun of the disorder.

Will she get disability? Probably not but she sure is wasting peoples time.

Oh, me, they need to get her out of there. That's not good for all of you to be exposed
to it. (And it doesn't sound like bipolar to me, either. It sounds more like the damage
to the brain from drug addiction over years of use.)

How are you feeling?
Thanks for this!

Yes, it's not like bipolar. I'm doing ok; and I feel sorry for her desperation but not enough to sacrifice my own sanity

thanks for asking. TnT
