I saw my pregnant pdoc today and she looks like she is going to have her child at any moment-actually she's due at the beginning of August. After the baby is born, she is taking off 4 months. This means that my next appointment is scheduled for December! She says I can call her at any time, and wants me to check in before she has the baby. I told her that she would feel a lot differently about phone calls when her baby is here. Either way, I would never intrude on her pregnancy leave. It is such a special time!

So dear PC mates, this leaves you as my source of guidance!!! I know you can't prescribe drugs, but you can and have definitely guided me through some tough times! You are always much more effective than my t. Who needs clinical talk when you are in the midst of a crisis???

Thanks for being here, friends!

I'm here for you. It's going to be okay. Just think, six months is not that long. The time will fly by. Everything will be fine. (Positive thinking is our friend!)

I am able to call someone else in her practice should an emergency arise; however, unless it is just a med management issue, I would probably go to the psych hospital instead. It would actually be cheaper, considering that I pay my pdoc out-of-pocket. I trust her too much to switch, even after my insurance changed.
Thanks for asking, MM!

I'm the same way with my pdoc---I trust him so much that I'd rather pay him out of pocket than switch when he goes into private practice. Six months is a long time to go without seeing your own pdoc, but then I've never been well long enough to try.....maybe this time will be it.

It's good you do have a back up plan figured out, better now than in a crisis. I would feel concern also thinking ... "OMG can't see my Pdoc for 6 months???? " I think you are going to be just fine.
