I saw my new pdoc 3 weeks in a row. The last week my mood was pretty normal for a few days and the meds were adjusted.

I had 2 days of normal and when I saw my pdoc last I was in a low mood not too depressed, no bad thoughts in a week.

now a week later I feel like I'm back at too the severe depression, having bad thoughts I can't stop, moping around the house, I need to get out of my head!!!!!

I've been on lamictal for 3 weeks of 25mg and started 50mg last week.

I also started prozac for 2 weeks.

and zyprexa 5mg for 2 weeks.

I feel horrible, I feel my next appointment next month. I'm soo depressed, the 2 days felt like a switch clicked on, not that switch doesn't even exist.

All I can say is patiently wait until you see your PDoc. Then take the recomended medication and see if you do better. In the meantime, HUGS!

It is going to take time for the lamictal and the prozac to kick in, and the zyprexa may not be at a high enough dose yet either. You might call your pdoc and let him know that your mood changed after your appointment and ask if you can come in for an appointment sooner than scheduled or if he can do anything to help you between now and then.

I am at 20mg for the Zyprexa, and it is somewhat working... I agree with 1914sierra- call your pdoc and see about upping the dose. Hang in there, and know you are loved and encouraged here

I agree that you need to give the meds time to kick in. Antidepressants can take up to six weeks to start working. I think 50 mg of Lamictal is barely a therapeutic dose. I was up to 150 mg at the end of titration.
Thanks for this!

Call your Pdoc , It does take time for the meds to really start working, sorry thats just how the medications work.

Meanwhile ... stick to a schedule, Sleep, eat healthy, exercise daily, use coping skills , grounding skills, Mindfulness, use distractions to keep you from over thinking or focusing on the negative.

Hang in there .I hope you find relief soon

So taking that into consideration, that probably has had a BIG impact on your mood that would happen naturally to ANYONE. Meds take time to work. I'd work on just making yourself do 2 or 3 activities a day, even if you spend the rest of the time in bed, keep yourself active, and hold on until your next appointment.

I would suggest going for walks. You don't have to look good to do it so you don't have to get ready much physically.

I would try eating things that have caffeine in it. Highly suggest chocolate. Maybe eat more sugary foods. At this point your diet and how you look doesn't much matter. Drink pop. Your goal is to make yourself feel better! Make sure you aren't just eating all crap though...just eat rich foods as well.

Try not to sleep all day. I know when you are depressed that tends to go with it. The caffeine should help some.

Play computer games. Or anything you really like to do that requires mental alertness.

From what I factor depression and the slowing of the mind go hand in hand. So do what you can to speed up the mind and the depression should slow down.

I will admit I had an extremely tough time with my depression. But that was because people had told me to do things like stop eating chocolate and playing computer games early on. Including my wife and my therapist. Sure it probably made me act a bit manic but it kept me from going off the deep end the other way!

Just keep in mind the balance you need to take between depression and manic. So you will not need caffeine much to feel the effect.

Edit: The more you go towards mania the less caffeine you should intake to feel the effect. However, too much caffeine can be dangerous anyway so you have to be careful and add some in moderation at first.
