If only there was a way to get rid of the depression, and especially the mixed phases, because the mixed phases are so full of turmoil. I wish I could stay hypomanic forever, people like me better when I'm up. The past month I've had days of mixed- both up and down simultaneously.

When I'm mixed I feel like starting a new life, and ending my life at the same time.

I feel like crying and laughing. I feel love and hate. I feel so in touch with the beauty around me and yet at the same time that nothing really matters, and I am so small in the grand scheme of things that I am ultimately worthless...

Does anyone go through this? What do you do?

The mixed episodes are the most uncomfortable because you just have no idea which way you're going. I saw that you are on lamictal, if you are just beginning medication, it just takes a while for everything to kick in.
In some cases, a dr can prescribe an antidepressant and /or an antipsychotic to help with the symptoms. If you don't get relief in a few weeks, work with your dr to find something that works for you.

I have been experiencing the mixed moods especially now that I am on on meds. I can't wait to get a dose that works.

Thanks emomom, I appreciate your response. And Anxiety girl, just know that you are not alone..

I like both of your stamp signature things by the way. Pinky and the Brain, classic. And the "I hate being bipolar, it's awesome!" Is hilarious.
Thanks for this!

The mixed states are the worst! I have been so lucky that medication has worked within 10 days for me. I hope your meds work for you soon

Just recently I had a mild mixed episode (I think the meds kept a cap on it from getting too bad) and the thing that effectively cured me? Marijuana. My boyfriend suggested it. I had a smoke and the feelings were gone. The mood came back a few days later - smoked again and I have been fine ever since. Now I am not encouraging you to do this by any means, we all react differently. I am just sharing what worked for me.

What meds are you taking? I'm on lamictal and so far I've felt no change, but I need about 125-175 more mg I think. I have to wait and take it up in steps.

Zeldox/Geodon is what took the most terrible mixed state of my life away. I am forever thankful I found this medication. It has changed my life.

I think I was on a dose of 200mg of lamictal before it started to take effect. I love that medication too!
Thanks for this!
