Hi! I'm 16 and have been diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety with Obsessive Compulsive Tendencies and Depression. I just recently started medication and, now that I have my anxiety more under control, I have begun to notice different symptoms. I have a week or so where I just feel depressed and tired (which I'm used to, so it isn't that surprising), but then the next week or so I feel completely untouchable and like nothing can get in my way. I'll start new projects, commit to ambitious things, talk to anyone who will listen (even though I am usually very shy), and will go jogging or do yoga a lot more than normal. I sometimes have a couple days in the middle where I feel almost "normal," too. I've also noticed even more recently that I get irritated and even angry a lot easier than I used to sometimes. Looking back on it, I think this has been going on for quite a while (I just haven't noticed). I was just wondering if this actually sounds like a problem I should talk to my psychologist about, or if I am overreacting.

You should definitely bring it up with your psychologist. They'll be able to help you sort things out

I don't know how often you see yours, but you may want to start up a mood log so that you'll have a clearer picture for yourself and them.

I wouldn't self diagnose but I would bring it up the behaviors to your psychologist if you think it is a concern.

Bipolar is sometimes very hard to diagnose and many people are misdiagnosed, especially at your age. A mood diary as a Red Panda suggested is a brilliant idea so your pdoc/T can see what your moods are doing day to day week to week. You might also want to add how high the anxiety level is that day or if there are any other things going on during the day that might have an impact on your mood.

Sometimes when the meds start to work we can come out of depression and it feels so good that people suspect hypo/mania when it is just a good mood. Other times medication can tip BP people manic, but if this was the case with your meds I suspect you would be having a lot more problems.

It is definitely something to bring up with your doctors for sure, never disregard anything that worries you, they are there to help
Thanks for this!
