I feel like I'm step away from hypomania, half way to an euphoria.

I'm in depressive phase, but today, mentally I need to get up and out and do something.

I think I'll enroll in college.

It's probably a placebo effect. but since I have been bipolar for about 2 years now, when I drink coffee it shoots my mood up.

Anyone have any weird reactions with caffeine?
Thanks for this!

Can't drink it. It makes me physically ill and also gives me panic attacks because I'm so jittery.

I feel kind of ill, almost like a hangover, yet at the same time I feel amazing. It's weird, it's been months since I've had caffeine.

Caffine is considered a stimulant. I know when I am hypomaniac, it makes things worse for me. So I am glad to not be alone in this.

When I am closer to mania, caffeine will make it so I can't sleep.
As I get closer to normal I can have caffeine without any ill effects.

I am on Zyprexa only. 10 MG.

I just recently escaped a manic phase where caffeine was really powerful. Now I am pretty normal and caffeine does not have much effect. However, I am getting my caffeine from tea and chocolate so I am not intaking a lot of caffeine.

Caffeine does nothing for me unless I have too much (more than three cups of coffee). Then I get really jittery and wired.

I've never drank huge quantities of it in a short amount of time... but caffiene seems to do nothing to me.

I drink coffee almost every day and it doesn't make my hypomanic but today I think it has. Maybe. I know when I start feeling like I'm floating along instead of walking I'm hypo.

I can't drink coffee after 12 pm (noon) or I can't sleep. Strangely enough, cola and black tea don't affect me that way.

After my 2nd daughter was born in 1980, coffee gave me panic attacks, and I couldn't drink it at all for about 3 years.

I had a coffee at 9pm tonight (its 10.20pm now) because I wanted to get some research done for a job interview I have on friday and I was really tired before! and can I concentrate on the research? no i can not!

Im way too excited for this interview now I cannot wait and I want to do it now!, my mood has not only shot up but shot up to the extreme - I feel like my heart is going to burst out of my chest with happiness and im just excited! So instead Ive got the computer out but my mind wants to do a million things at once on it and do fun things

A few days ago I started getting symptoms of both depersonalisation and derealisation, peripheral hallucinations and extreme paranoia... all over half a cup of coffee in the mornings and it would set me up for the full day having these horrible mixed mania symptoms... hmmm coffee is just not for me when Im like this! Funny thing is though when I am depressed coffee either doesnt touch me or it makes me even tireder! I dont know how to spell tired is that right? haha

Dont think the medication Im on is helping... back to the doctors tomorrow!

So in answer to your question I dont think stuff like this is a normal reaction to caffiene! I believe its certainly a more bipolar thing!

When I'm manic/hypomanic, I drink a lot more coffee than usual, and it keeps the buzz going which is why I do it. It's not smart, but like most BP folks I am not particularly gifted with insight during those periods.

During times of normality, like now, it doesn't do anything unusual. I've been drinking about four cups a day for years. I know it's too much, but if I don't keep up my caffeine intake I get headaches.

Coffee makes me jittery and anxious and caffine gives me a worse hangover than alcohol.
I can have one or two cups a day without adverse affects when my mood is stable but I can definitely feel it when I do.
Thanks for this!

Caffeine is my last good vice, I'm not giving it up!

Thankfully, my body can handle it. Coffee is the highlight of my day!

I drink coffee a lot. If I have an extremely high amount, sometimes it can trigger hypomania. Well, a slight dulled down version of it. I get all the energy to feel like I can do anything. Then I crash of course.
